Be honest now, when was the last time you remember the Skins being that healthy through the majority of the season?? They put Brandon Noble on IR early in the season (he'd already missed all of camp), then the next player going on IR was Patten after game 9, then the next Skin to go on IR was Randy Thomas, after he broke his leg against the Cowboys in game 14...
Contrast that to the Cowboys who lost four freakin' LINEBACKERS in the course of the season... they had to go out and sign Quinton Caver in November, and Michael Barrow in December, they'd been so devastated at linebacker... and of course, they lost their Pro Bowl left tackle in game 6...
Yes, you had enough talent among your starters to get to the second round of the playoffs... but we saw how quickly their play dropped off at the end of the season and in the playoffs when the injuries mounted up, which shows quite clearly that you did NOT have enough talented DEPTH to be serious playoff contenders...
That's an illogical statement, given that the Boys were THIS close to playoff contention, and will be adding a mess of FA's...
Let me sum it up this way for you-- if you're REALLY content with the lack of quality depth on your team, you're welcome to field the same one next year... I'm bettin' you guys won't be quite so fortunate on the injury front, and that lack of quality depth will result in your favorite team struggling rather badly toward the end of the season...
Absolutely right, Silverbear, quality depth is critical to going all the way. Injuries are simply a fact of life in the NFL, especially late in the year when the play becomes much more intense. Witness the difference in the Cowboys in the first half vs. the second half last year. The Skins basically have a good squad but it's thin and that will be its Achilles' heel.
