Commanders Vs. The East...

From another board, props to ChoppinBroccoli

I was listening to Sirius NFL Channel today, and a Commanders fan (who lives in Dallas) called in to pimp his team. When he asked Pat Kirwan why nobody seems to mention the Commanders when talking about the best teams in the NFC, Kirwan invited him to compare his team, position-by-position, with the other teams in the NFC East.

Quite predictably, the 'Skins fan claimed that the Commanders had the best player in the NFC East at every position, which brought many groans from the hosts of the show. He said the Commanders had the best pair of OTs in the East, the best set of Guards, and therefore the best O-Line in all of the NFC East. He said the Commanders had the second-best WR corps in the East (behind Dallas). He then said that he'd rather have Cooley at TE than either Witten or Shockey, which lost him all credibility with the hosts (they finally told him straight-up that there was no question that Witten was the best TE in the East). Among other laughable statements this idiot made was that the Commanders "just murdered the Cowboys two times last year," (the hosts set him straight that the first game was a "rabbit out of a hat").

They then got into a discussion of defense (where 'Skins Boy claimed that Adam Archuleta made their pass coverage better than last year--again set straight by the hosts, who informed this homer that Archuleta is nothing special in coverage), when the 'Skins fans made the statement that, "Sean Taylor is the next Ronnie Lott." The hosts about lost their minds on that one, and Pat Kirwan chimed in with the clincher. He said, "Wanna know who Ronnie Lott thinks is the next Ronnie Lott? And e know because we asked him. On our show Ronnie Lott told us that the next Ronnie Lott is Roy Williams." That sent the 'Skins fan sputtering about how he only said that because he hasn't watched Sean Taylor, and that he'll be saying Sean Taylor is the next Ronnie Lott by next year.

Another Commanders fan pwned.

Was the caller named Art?

Probably not because the caller didn't mention his man-love for Snyder who can do no wrong where Jerry Jones isn't even in the same class as him, how Gibbs is the greatest coach in existence and Parcells shouldn't even mentioned in the same breath, and last but not least, he couldn't ban the callers as soon as they disagreed with him and proved him wrong.

As I mentioned in another post, the folks at Extremeskins are absolutely CONVINCED they're going to the Super Bowl this coming year. There was a long discussion about what they expected from the skins, & virtually every poster said that they expected a win in the Super Bowl. After all, they've overpaid for a coordinator & midget WRs--what else do they need?! :suxskins:

How can you overpay for a coordinator? Are you basing that on his production so far? I also don't understand the midget WR comment..... Moss was productive last year & is 5'9 but does that matter?

He's talking about WR Brandon Lloyd and WR Antwaan Randle-El. From what I remember, both are short and have received huge amount of pay.

And Snyder dished a ton for Saunders. I think it was HC money. I think.

I think he means that you can't overpay a coach since there is no cap for coaches.

That's the thing though, I thought overpaying would refer to how it affected the cap situation. Coaching money doesn't. I actually think getting the best coordinators you can find makes sense.

They appear to have received a huge amount of pay but they will probably not see the full amount of their contracts. Normally we restructure contracts to fit under the cap before the big amounts hit.

If you ask that same question here on this board what do you think the answer would be? the exact same thing.

if you love your team, you are obviously going to hope, wish and expect for a super bowl. After your team comes off a great run(in which the skins had last year), the spirits of fans are going to be high, and there are going to be high expectations. Even if you dont come off a spectacular year, fans still expect thier team to bounce back and go to the super bowl, like here.

Its natrual for just about any fan base.

Nah, lots of Cowboys fans are just venting about "overpaying" Saunders. Saunders got more money than a normal coordinator would get. That's why many are saying they "overpaid".

Yes, many of your players are indeed playing with funny money. ;)

In 2004 Philly beat us twice too. How much did that matter in 2005?

Last year is over.
