I think it all came from this La Canfora post that looks to be wrong. I guess he missed the news about 2017 and others ran with his report earlier today.

It sort of immediately points it out in the article directly below his erroneous tweet:

It is a little odd that none of the compensatory selections are in the seventh round. First time I can recall ever seeing that.

They only hand out 32 total and more teams are playing the game now. There were 32 eligible free agents lost that came in at a 6th round or better grade.
