Comp picks announced

BCarter not reaching his playing time incentive probably cost a 5th instead of the third 6th.

Jones, Gregory, Collins.

Collins wasn't a part of our draft class. That was a freak situation that got him to UDFA and allowed him to pick his own team. To even mention that is pretty weak.

Gregory isn't a starter let alone a quality one. He may be down the road though. Jones is one. There is nothing else in the draft class that looks to be anything close to quality starter material. So at best you got 2. You said 4-5. Which is completely unrealistic. That's happened before but those classes are rare and we haven't had anything like it since 2005.

What a terrifying and exciting draft this will be for this team.

You can say it in any year, but with where we are in the rounds and the extra 4th, we could (should?) come out of this with 4-5 good starters and I'm gonna say 2 elite-or-dang-close-to-it players.

There are probably only a handful of elite players in the entire draft.

I don't think getting 1- 4th and 3- extra 6ths is worth abandoning FA

I think this comp pick program has had too big an impact on our team building

I think it is why we are keeping guys like Carr and Church and their large salaries and cap hits. They will probably qualify for picks in 2018 if we don't cut them.

Qualify however you will, but I think we got 3 good players if 94 can get a better drug-test beating methodology.

There's an above-normal chance we could have a great draft given our positioning, that's all I'm saying. When it comes to my sports teams it's way more fun for me to be optimistic and hopeful for what could happen positively.

I know you don't share that viewpoint, so we will rarely agree. I preserve my deeply entrenched cynicism of most of humanity for subjects in life where I have more than zero control.

I was listening to NFL radio on my way to work, and that's what they reported. Maybe they were wrong.

Kirwan and Miller were talking about that last week and had fans calling in and correcting them then too.

How these people can work in the industry connected to covering the NFL where their job is to know the insides and outs of the sport be so sloppy?

It's way more fun for me to be rational and realistic. The La'el Collins situation has no bearing on this year's draft or any year's draft. It's never happened before. It may never happen again. What control I have over it is irrelevant. It is what it is.

If you're setting the bar for 4-5 good starters from this class you're setting yourself to be disappointed and you wouldn't find a draftnik on the planet that would agree with those expectations. All you have to do is review our classes or any team's classes over the years and see how often that occurs. A 4th round comp pick doesn't change that.
