I'm very confident about Detroit, but not too confident about the NFC title. Unfortunately, we have an insanely difficult gauntlet to run for a 12-4 team. It's ridiculous.

I don't know if confidence is the right word. I'd say hopeful. More hopeful than at any point since the 90's. Romo wasn't ready when he fumbled that FG snap. The 2007 and 2009 teams didn't have a power running game.

This is Romo's best chance to make a playoff run. But the road is daunting.

My confidence level is extremely high, I don't see how teams can contain our offense. If our defense can just get us some 3 and outs I have confidence that our offense can capitalize with TDs.

My confidence is about 10% shy 1992-1995 cowboys teams confidence. Romo and defense keep me from 100%.

I'm confident but not too confident because the 330 yards Megatron put up on our defense last year is still fresh in my mind.

Crazy things tend to happen when we play these Lions.

But I like the roll we're on and the overall balance of the team.

You're worried about Romo? He has 2 or 3 sub par games per year, which is standard for any QB. Even the Bradys and Mannings of the league have a few clunkers along the way.

I am concerned about the Lions getting chunks of yards down field against our secondary. Whether it be through a long catch or PI penalties.

Yes.

TBH, for me, they are playing with house money. I didn't expect them to be anywhere near this good, so they have far exceeded my expectations.

As far as confidence goes, I think that they can beat any team in the NFC in the playoffs so long as they remain assignment sound on defense, and protect the football on offense. I think they beat Detroit this week, and then they will give Green Bay a good fight before losing. I don't think that the defense matches up very well with the Green Bay offense.

I am generally an optimistic fan but I also like to step away from my emotions and think realistically.
If I were not a fan of this team how would I feel about there chances of beating GB and Seattle back to back weeks on the road? I would give them as good of a chance as any team in the league but even with saying that I understand that it is a huge uphill battle to pull that off for any team.
If Green Bay and Seattle were in different conferences I would think they would both be Super Bowl caliber teams. So we will need to beat the 2 best home teams in the last several years back to back in their own stadiums. I believe in a 10 game series we beat both 6 or 7 out of 10 times.....but doing it back to back is a different story.

It will be very interesting....and no I am not looking past Detroit. I worry about their defensive front being good enough to shut down our running game and make us beat them down field in coverage.

My gut feel is our great run ends in Lambeau. But we come back even better next year with a drive to secure more home field advantage and win 13 or 14.

Next year is our Super Bowl year

^^mostly this....but I'm not yet ready to say they can't beat Green Bay. If I were a Packers fan, I'd be very worried about this Cowboys team coming into Lambeau knowing their road record.

i was very confident we'd make the Super Bowl in 07. This year I'm confident at least divisional , but I'm excited for the future.

Were you? I was confident we were Super Bowl bound around the Packers game that year when we moved to 12-1. But the end of that season left a bad taste in my mouth. And TO getting injured at the end was not good. We were not full strength going into the playoffs or playing good football. That loss to the Giants surprised me none.

A loss to the Lions would surprise me right now.

My confidence is higher than any of those years because the Cowboys are playing better than they were any of those years. If we don't get past the wild card round, I'll be that much more disappointed. Time to make some noise, one game at a time.

Agreed. I can't fathom how anyone who says losing in the wild card round is acceptable. It was acceptable in 2006 and 2003. Those were not great teams. And one had Quincy at QB and playing the eventual SB runner up. If we lose the first game, massive disappointment. Huge choke job.

The OL is the reason we got eliminated in our last two playoff runs.

NYG destroyed our interior line IIRC. I think they were exploiting our guards with Justin Tuck.

Minnesota absolutely annihilated our O-line. My memory might be off, but I remember Doug Free having the worst game of his life. Ray Edwards looked like the 2nd coming of Lawrence Taylor.

Just give Tony a chance is all I ask. I feel confident that if we lose, it won't be because of the OL this time around.

Marc Columbo was done in that game - it showed

Was very confident in 07 of making the Super Bowl because I felt no one in the NFC could beat us. I knew we owned GB and Favre in Texas Stadium. Then when I saw the Giants gaining confidence by beating a pretty weak playoff team in Tampa Bay team I knew I didn't want to see them again because even though we beat them twice during that season they would come into this game very loose knowing hardly anyone gave them a chance and having to beat them a 3rd time. If you remember they were losing that game early and struggling in that Tampa game, Eli hadn't won a playoff game and then as the game went along they started gaining some confidence like 'hey we can do this'. I really wanted nothing to do with that Giant team again.

In 09, it was a very magical year with Austin coming out of nowhere but the coaching staff especially with Wade still being the head coach was a big warning sign. In 07 I felt we had the talent to overcome Wade, in 09 not so much. It also seemed like that team had 'happy to be there' syndrome.

This year I feel like this team feels like they haven't accomplished anything. From the coaching staff to the players they are taking a business like approach to this season. I don't get a a 'hey we're happy we just made the playoffs' vibe from this team. Add to the fact that the leadership with Romo and Witten especially knowing this could be their last chance at something special. This team seems to have a killer instinct and are lock and loaded for a run.

2006 - Low expectations - new QB, new running attack, just a young team. Still would have liked more, but I was happy to be in and ready for 2007.
2007 - Warning signs with a weak december, we were starting to not look so good. Passing game was slowing down and defense showing warts. Still didn't expect the giants to eat our defense for lunch.
2009 - Just thrilled to be in and get a win. I wasn't devastated with what happened in Minnesota - I didn't think we were super bowl ready then. But the regression in 2010 hurt really bad.

This year - I'm a little worried that the running game seems to be slowing down a tad, but glad they are staying with it. this defense keeps me on the edge of the seat - they really haven't had to deal with a lot of lethal QB play but that will change in the playoffs. The offense will score I think. I would say of all four, this year I am cautiously more optimistic than 2009 and I certainly like the team better than I did in 2007. I don't know that it is sure fire super bowl winner, but I can't make a case against the team!

2007 had me super confident and they spit the bit

I'd put it on the 2006/2009 levels of confidence. 2006 was a very fun ride (with the introduction of Romo and all), but with low expectations. I was very, very hopeful of their potential to make noise, but wouldn't have been surprised if they faltered. I had a very cynical view of the 2009 squad and came away pleasantly suprised with a playoff win.

Hopeful for more this year, obviously.
