Confident in the team but hate the gauntlet in front of them and disappointed that as a 12-4 team Dallas will have to most likely slay 2 dragons (Seattle at home again, and GB at Lambeau) to get to the SB....just the way it goes though

Win 12 games and beat the top seed on the road?
Yes, I'd say confidence is high.

I've felt good about all of our playoff seasons.

07 we were 13-3 and had the #1 seed playing the Giants in our first game.

09 we were the hottest team going into the playoffs and beat the crap out of Philly 2 weeks in a row.

2014 we are the hottest team in the league

I haven't seen a Dallas team this collectively focused, intense and on message since that team in 92' and they had to beat a monster on the road to get to the Super Bowl

If injuries and/or turnovers don't do them in, this team has the tools to do it all.

Tony & Witt deserve this, go get it!

I don't know if confidence is the right word. I'd say hopeful. More hopeful than at any point since the 90's. Romo wasn't ready when he fumbled that FG snap. The 2007 and 2009 teams didn't have a power running game.

This is Romo's best chance to make a playoff run. But the road is daunting.

The road is very daunting. This team is absolutely good enough to win the NFC, but of course the year we go 12-4, 12-4 isn't good enough for a bye. Beating Detroit at home, then GB and Seattle on the road is a huge hurdle for any team, no matter how good.

I am confident, haven't been this excited for a Cowboys team in decades. This team can go all the way to the end.

I don't see this squad losing another game this season. They can play the game wherever and it won't matter.

Heading into the playoffs in 06 I expected a one and out. The Cowboys ended that season with back to back losses and Romo's game was coming apart after a very hot start to his career. He suffered 10 turnovers during Dec and the defense wasn't playing well. Heading into the playoffs in 07 again I expected a one and out. The Cowboys and Romo were in the midst of another Dec tailspin after what had been a terrific first 12 weeks of the season. The 07 team became complacent after beating the 10-1 Packers in week 13 which again led to another Dec swoon with the Cowboys ending the season with an awful performance against Washington in the season finale. The way the team had been playing the final month carried over to the playoffs. Romo's game had once again tailed off in Dec after a terrific Nov. You could see a one and out in the playoffs coming a mile away and the 07 season became one of the most disappointing in franchise history. Heading into the playoffs in 09 I felt the Cowboys were the hottest team going in. They appeared to be fading again in Dec with losses to the Chargers and Giants but got hot after a big and very unexpected win over the 13-0 Saints at the dome.

The Cowboys ended the 09 season with back to back shutout wins over Washington and Philly taking the NFC East. The final 2 games of that season was the best I had seen the Cowboys defense play since their 90's championship teams. I was confident with that team heading into the playoffs and thought the Cowboys had a real shot at the SB but after their first playoff win in 13 years everyone including cream puff Wade was acting like the team had won the SB. It was Wades first playoff win ever as a HC and he couldn't stop gushing over it. I'm surprised he didn't send the entire team to Cabo for a couple of days of R&R and allow Romo and the offense to draw up plays on the beach to prepare for the Vikings. The Cowboys celebrated that playoff win all week showing up in Minn the following Sunday looking unprepared and got destroyed. Heading into the playoffs Sunday the Cowboys appear to be the hottest team but the defense remains a concern. Although the Cowboys looked impressive yesterday RG3 did have a career high 336 yards passing but it only led to 17 points.

The D gave up yards but not many points but bending can lead to breaking so the Cowboys offense that's looked very impressive is going to have to put up some points to overcome whatever defensive struggles the team encounters. An Aaron Rodgers would shred the Cowboys defense so the Packers would be the biggest road block to reaching the SB for the Cowboys. The Cowboys simply don't match up well with them and it would take a shootout to beat them. The Cowboys have surprised all season and the way they're playing heading into the playoffs gives the team a legit shot to do something special we'll just have to see how it all plays out. Playoff/elimination games have been Romo's nemesis hopefully we'll continue seeing the productive efficient Romo we've been seeing this Dec when it's down to do or die. He's proven he's an excellent regular season QB and has finally gotten over the Dec demons now he faces his next big hurdle having playoff success.

I am much more confident this year. In the past I've always had this bad feeling up to the game. This year is different.

The OL is the reason we got eliminated in our last two playoff runs.

NYG destroyed our interior line IIRC. I think they were exploiting our guards with Justin Tuck.

Minnesota absolutely annihilated our O-line. My memory might be off, but I remember Doug Free having the worst game of his life. Ray Edwards looked like the 2nd coming of Lawrence Taylor.

Just give Tony a chance is all I ask. I feel confident that if we lose, it won't be because of the OL this time around.

No it wasnt Doug Free it was Mark Columbo. If Free would have played that game we MIGHT had a chance. Mark Columbo got whip badly that game.

Kind of hoping Seattle loses in the divisional round. I know it's a pretty slim chance but if Seattle loses on that Saturday night, the Dallas/GB game, if there is one, will take on a whole new level of importance. The winner gets homefield for the CCG.

Free ended up playing a lot for Flozell Adams, who left the game in the second quarter with a calf injury. Wouldn't have mattered - offensive line was exposed as weak in that game.

I don't get why everyone had low expectations for the 2007 playoffs. That was one of the best teams we have had in years. We had everything going for us:

1. 13-3 Record. One loss was the last game against Commanders, which was meaningless. One loss against the almighty Pats (best team ever... at least before the SB).
2. First playoff game was against the Giants, and we had already beaten them twice that year.
3. We had a great offense that was putting up a ton of points. TO was scoring like crazy. The record Dez just broke was from TO that season.
4. We destroyed GB, and the GB ended up going to the NFC conference championship.

Seriously, you guys had low expectations? I was hoping we would go all the way to the SB for a rematch against the Pats. We actually dominated the Giants the first half, except for the last drive. We should have won that game... The second half was an epic meltdown for us, and we will were close to winning it near the end. Our OL was much better than in 2009.

I feel good about our playoff chances, but I am still scared about our defense. They have been playing better, but I still feel they are smoke and mirrors. They give a lot of effort, but we are lacking talent at key positions. I felt more confident in 2007.

My expectations went downhill in 2007 when I learned Tony took Jessica Simpson to Cabo during the bye week.

Over the last decade we have seen this team make the playoffs 3 times. And then now. 2006, 2007 and 2009. What is your confidence level headed into these playoffs compared to those years? For me, I think it's the highest.

2006, we kind of fell off at the end, starting with that Saints butt kicking on SNF. Then losing to the Lions and Eagles the last 2 games of the year to where we didn't even win the East with that seemingly in our pocket. I expected nothing in that playoffs.

2007, yes were 13-3 but we had injuries. Glenn was not even close to healthy, Owens was hobbling. We lost 2 of 3 and just didn't seem to be headed in the right direction. I did not have a good feeling about that Giants game at all.

2009 would be the time I was really confident we would beat the Eagles. We ended the season with 3 straight wins, one being the 13-0 Saints on the road. Blew out the Eagles to win the East. But realistically, we were a flawed team. No real running game and a weak OL. Most realistic fans knew one playoff win was our ceiling. We were miles away from the Vikings. And it showed.

But this year is different. Won 6 of our last 7 and this December was one for the ages. There is not one team in the entire field who is head and shoulders above us.

I am very confident headed into this Lions game and can't wait!

I would be tickeled pink if we win against the Lions and then lost.
I thought we would go 8 and 8 again, so any win on the road against GB would be iceing on the cake !

In previous years I had excuses made up in my mind before the games had even started. Losing, and losing in the most embarrassing ways in primetime was just a part of being a Cowboys fan in the 00's. This year, while I'm not expecting a Super Bowl victory, don't fear any team. I think we can challenge anyone, and that's a great feeling.

Plus I'm one of the people that expected a 5-11 season, so everything from now on in a bonus.

i can not describe how i felt the next day at work after that loss to the giants.

kicked in the chest by a horse comes to mind.

I remember being super annoyed by all the people blaming Romo for the loss, but I for the life of me couldn't understand why Crayton quit on his route in the end zone of that play....could have been the difference. That and his drop on a (third?) down earlier
