Comparing Bobby Wagner with LVE…I know we signed LVE now but wish it would’ve been BW.
Here’s comparison of recent stats:

Bobby Wagner:

• Has started every game for 4 straight seasons
• Averages over 80 solo tackles a season for 7 straight years.
• Had 140 total tackles, 81 solo last year
• Had 6 sacks in 2022
• Had 2 INTs in 2022
• Had 10 TFLs in 2022
• Had 10 QB hits in 2022.

This does not look like a guy who has declined significantly.

LVE:

• Has only played one full season without missing a game over a 5 year career and has missed 22 games over that period.
• Averages about 57 solo tackles a season over 5. (Had one great year in 2018 in tackles)
• Had 90 total tackles, 54 solo in 2022.
• Had 1 sack in 2022.
• Had 1 INT in 2022.
• Had 4 TFLs in 2022.
• Had 1 QB hit in 2022.

I like LVE, but Wagner is a bona-fide HOFer and 6 time first team ALL Pro who still has lots to give.

I think anyone with half a brain knew Wagner was twice the player
But money is a factor and trading for Gillmore took a chunk of what we had

I certainly prefer Wagner. But, LVE is pretty good - you can with him as your MLB - and if the money saved goes to a DT or a WR, it's worth it.

I like the Gilmore trade a lot and as I said, I like LVE. But I don’t think LVE is as reliable or talented as Wagner. I wasn’t that high on Donovan Wilson. He’s a good player but I don’t see him a big piece of this D.

Wilson is already signed but money does matter
There’s no questions who’s better but costs is always a factor in decisions

I keep seeing wagner is 2x the price but the line backer market is what dictates his price is and so far it’s been tamed than expected. Glad we brought lve back but don’t try and spin it as he’s better than wagner. If wagner ends up making like 12m a year….ok but I don’t think he’s going to

Stop it. Just because LVE FINALLY had a respectable season lately is no reason to pay him. He needs to be replaced. Hes NOT a difference maker. ONLY reason these guys like LVE and Wilson get lost of tackles is because the Dline lets lost of ball carriers get through.

I look at it this way, you can have one of the following.

A. Bobby Wagnor
B. LVE and Gillmore

The team decided option B was the best.

Wagner hasn't declined at all. Those numbers are right there with the best of his career. Another All Pro season. He's been amazingly consistent. His worst year is like what Vander Esch dreams of at night.

It's a salary cap league. It is quite obvious that Wagner is the far superior player, but you likely lose Wilson if you sign Wagner. I would rather have LVE + Wilson than Wagner. There are just too many holes to fill to throw nearly $13mil at a linebacker.
