But the other factor is momentum. SF had just gotten a FG. SF defense immediately giving up a FG doesn’t swing momentum.
I agree the FG attempt is the safest. But, those points aren't a given. The kick could be blocked .... like ours was against GB. If Reynolds catches a couple balls, no one is as passionate about the decision.

About 50 percent of coaches go for that 4th and 2. It wasn’t a bad call

Lions killed momentum and awakened their crowd with that miss 4th down try vs the field goal. Momentum is a thing.

That’s why you play the high % in the playoffs. Campbell aggressiveness backfired big time.
