I encountered you on the streets of New York many times but you don't yell to yourself too, do you?
I was in the Bronx several years ago, about 6 a.m. My customer wasn't scheduled to be there for about another hour, so I was taking a nap in the cab while I waited. I woke up to two people having a loud, hateful argument about how the one ratted the other one out. I lifted my head to see it was one person having the argument, an older Native American woman...and they were pissed. It wasn't easy to get back to sleep after that.

Do you ever do something a little odd and wonder if you are the only one that thought of doing that or there are others that share your quirkiness?

What I did last night, got me to thinking about that and first off, want to know if I am the only one that does this and if so, get some of your little quirks out there to make me feel better about mine. Secrets are a terrible thing.

So, I am finishing dinner last night and cleaning up and start the garbage disposal to put the stuff down there and began to play "the monster game". Those pieces of uneaten food are not what they appear to be, they are aliens, creatures from the dark and invaders from another dimension and realm bent on taking mankind down and I must save the planet.

The ones that you have to spray really hard to get them to let go so you can get them to the "funnel of doom" are the fighters and the ones that hang onto the "funnel of doom" are the really scary ones, they will not go easily but one may be the "mastermind" so you have to let the disposal go a little longer than usual to make sure it meets it's demise.

You're not supposed to put pasta in a garbage disposal but the tentacles add another element of danger and they don't go down easily. Perhaps they know they're not supposed to go in there too?

And when I peel shrimp, that's not supposed to go in there either but the little legs are just too hard to resist. As well as making the sounds of them dying, I left that part out didn't I? And the maniacal laughter sometimes? That may rise above the level of just quirkiness but this is all about self amusement performing a mundane task.

OK, what are your quirks? C'mon now, we're all anonymous here, you can tell us. However, I may want to know where you live to make sure your not close by.
Love ya CC buuuutt......... this is how Jeffery Dahmer got his start. ;)

I remembered a quirk I had as a teenager. I didn't want my feet on the ground when cars passed by. I think it started after my dog got hit by a car. If I couldn't jump on the back of a parked car, I'd simply jump in the air. My sister and brother declared me defective, but it caught on with some of my friends.

As if you needed to declare yet another quirk to us!

I guess one of my quirks is I don't like to see people get a hard time when they're doing their jobs.

For instance, at Hooters just a couple of minutes ago, 4 guys sat down at a booth, and because the girl who had that table had just been cut, nobody realized at first that they weren't being helped. I pointed them out to the girls and one of them went over to the table.

When she got there, one of the guys started snapping at her that she took too long, and they all got up to leave. As they were doing so, one of them said something about her manager, and pointed at me. I'm wearing a Cowboys polo shirt, and I guess he didn't see the logo at first.

As they walked out the door, I got up and went over to them, explained what happened, and that it wasn't the girl's fault...and that I don't work here.

That wasn't enough to get them to come back in, and one of them said, "I thought you were the manager, but you're a Cowboys fan.

I said, "Damn right!"
He said, "We're all Giants fans,"
I replied, "Well, that explains your lack of patience."

On a regular basis, for decades. Instances too numerous to count, and it has become old hat.
You are not alone, my brother, and if we haven't done it, we've thought about it. I look at normal, seemingly well adjusted people, and ask why.

We've all got one shot at this, why be consumed with getting it right?

Almost no one cares, and certainly not enough will notice.

But there's no reason not to get it right on occasion. Occasions that matter at the moment.
I can live with occasionally.

percy, my man, take it from a man that lives with regrets and recriminations, occasionally will do.

....coach, that's comic book imagination. Better hope yer kids inherited that from you, only way to survive in the world. And have a sense of humor to couple with it.

As for my quirkiness, if you can call it that. Is I self dialogue a lot, when by myself. I carry a conversation aloud with a sub-personality. We all have them you know...;). It pisses or makes my wife mad when she comes downstairs and says, "I thought someone was here!". I kinda smile, apologetically.

Ok here's the deal. My wife's sister is schizophrenic and she does that. So you can feel her fear, that I could be marked for the same path..lol. I tell her its ok, I'm in control.

When I'm sitting in the potty or washing dishes. That's when the dialogues really get going.
