Confidence soaring for week 1- how about yours?

I initially had ultimate confidence we would beat the Giants week 1 prior to Romo's injury. I felt that way up until Monday and Tuesday about our game on Sunday, then some doubts set in when I was told by the media we have little chance to win with Prescott under center.

Then I got to thinking how these teams match up. The Giants were lucky to escape with a victory over the Cowboys in the second match up last season when we were all but eliminated out and depleted with injuries. The Cowboys were just as lucky week 1, but truthfully we were not good in that game whatsoever.

I have a feeling we have something for NY this Sunday. I have to think the coaching staff learned their lesson from last season and their ultraconservative gameplans won't hold for this Defense over 60 mins. The Prescott led Cowboys will look a bit different than we're used to. I'm personally excited. In a strange way, having Dak @ QB is a complete unknown to our opponents at this point. When will the Read option come? **Can he make the one on one throws? When is that screen pass they ran in PS coming? Play action will be our friend in this one for sure. I'd throw in some uptempo and show confidence in Dak's ability to lead.

It's going to be fun. I think the Cowboys win fairly easily. I don't see them stopping Zeke enough to put the entire game on Prescott's shoulders standing in shotgun. I think Prescott makes them pay early with a few backshoulder strikes, and some nice play action pass plays. He may not play perfect, but he will play well in this game. If we protect the football, we will win going away.

I want to believe. I am excited to see Dak. But they have a pretty good D coordinator, they spent a lot of money on the D in FA, so I have feeling they will bring the house, the kitchen sink and maybe a bathtub on Dak and that will overwhelm the young man. It's hard for a rookie in the NFL. But if we should win this game, the backlash for the Giants would be fun to watch, 200 million bucks spent on D and a Rookie QB in this first start beats ya,, priceless.

Im pumped but not confident.. It's actually the only game in the 1st quarter of the season that i'm not confident about.

@ Washington? Meh

Bears? meh

9ers? meh

Of the three games you list, I'm most scared of SF. We know the other teams so well. SF with Chip Kelly? Interesting, and they have a stout defense.

Sorry, but read the Tony Dungy article. Rookie QBs, no matter how good, are easy to gameplan for. Stack the box on 1st and 2nd down, get him in 3rd and long, and mistakes and turnovers will happen. Thankfully we have a good O line for 1st and 2nd downs. But no O line consistently beats 8 in the box. I don't know our gameplan, but I expect Dak to look very different than he did in the preseason. His throwing windows will be smaller and coverages will be more confusing and intricate. He will be blitzed from all angles. I love Dak's future and am firmly convinced he will be Tony's successor and do well, but I am also realistic. He is a rookie playing against an improved defense and against a team that can score a lot of points on offense. That is not a good recipe for success.

CAUTIOUSLY optimistic.

I am excited to see Prescott play in his first regular season game. But I am under no delusions that this team is gonna pound the piss out of the Giants. I expect Prescott to struggle at times. Most rookies do. I doubt you see the same Prescott you saw in preseason where he was racking up near perfect QB ratings.

Tight game, I am thinking a 3-7 point win.

I'm not so sure. I assume that if Dak throws a pic, they will channel lock it again & try to keep the loss close.

It will be a bunch of sideways football with some iso's mixed in.. Lot's of drag routes.

People sell Washington short. I get the whole, "we beat them with a backup QB" thing but Washington is building a nice team. Of the first four, that's the one that I think is closest to a sure loss.

They can score a lot yes. but that offense looked worse than bad in the preseason. The first team offense had 149 yards. TOTAL this preseason. Its going to take them time to gel imo. They have just as much if not more to prove than us. Im very confident. Dak is not like other rookie QBs that Dungy was speaking about. A lot of them dont have the best line in football, an elite WR and TE. And a very good if not elite RB. Not to mention a top 5 slot receiver as well.

We have Playmakers to assist Dak. He is not alone out there. He has a nice rapport with Dez and Beez. I think he will be just fine. We have not unleashed the running game's potential to date either. The Giants D isn't THAT improved. Vernon got the best of Tyron a few times in Miami, but not Sunday. I think we score high 20's minimum in this ballgame.

Cowboys 13-10 vs SF. SF has excellent team speed on Defense. That's the team that will give Dak the most fits in first Q of season IMO.

I think we'll win, but unfortunately I see an 8-8 season or so. Dak will have his ups and downs, I just hope he can continue to show he's worth developing. When Romo comes back, just no garuntee how long he'll last. I'd love a season where Dak shows he's a solid QB and we are in position to draft Myles Garrett, but we'll see

All true. Except I don't put much stock in preseason performances, good or bad.

Who says we're running on 1st and 2nd down?

Playaction will be Dak's best friend.

Neither do I. But when a team is THAT bad offensively either they are playing possum, or they are actually that bad right now. New head coach after a guy like Coughlin retires will be felt everywhere. Especially at QB. WE shall see what happens my friend. Im not saying we are going to blow them out, im just saying, dont write off Dak because of what Dungy said.

He's still going to struggle at times. I think some of you are really underestimating how many, if not most, rookie QBs have peaks and valleys.

Confident? No. We have a 4th round rookie QB who's never played a meaningful snap starting against a divisional opponent who's played us tough over the years.

Excited? Yes. It's football time and I'm ready to see what the rookie and team can do.
