Something I was thinking about early today.

I think just about every member on this board has been posting during our winless playoff run. I dont know if there was a BB type posting board when we won our last SB or not?

So this means this is our first playoff win in the "Internet Era"

Congrats to all the members. No matter what our differences - WE ALL ENJOY THIS RUN.

This has been one of the most difficult periods during this franchise's history from a fan's standpoint. We're widely criticized -- not exactly a team that's easy to root for. Bandwagon fans we are not.

That is so true. This is my 32nd year as a Cowboys fan. During that span we have won 3 Super Bowls. The other 29 seasons ended in some kind of disappointment. Yet here we all are living and dying with the Cowboys. The bandwagon is a myth. Most of us have been rooting for Dallas for years. For some of us, this is the first time experiencing a playoff win. Imagine that.

Back before the internet as we know it today, there were "news groups" ( go to an email client for pop mail to see it) and there was a news group for Dallas Cowboy fans. In fact, Rafael Vela was on that news group. After a year or two, several of us started our own "forum" in order to keep out the rifraf.

We waxed philosophic then, just as we do today. LOL

Nope, about 94-95, IRC chats on Unix were more prevailent method of online chats. If not those, News Net. BB started around 97 or late 96. I got on them myself around late 97, after leaving IRC.

Either way, maybe there were some IRC rooms, but I doubt too many people chatting a lot. IRC was way too Geeks oriented

Black and white t.v. Channel 2 that served Midland and Odessa from the 60's forward. Two earliest memories:

1. Sitting in front of that B&W console watching Neil walk on the moon with my Dad and seeing the pride on his face;
2. Sitting in the floor watching my Dad watch the Cowboys on that B&W console t.v. and watching the pride on his face.

I have been, and forever will be, a Cowboys fan.

It's been a long time.

I knew the year since the last playoff win, but I hadn't thought about it in terms of the Internet and message boards. I've been posting since 1998 ... all the posts, all the threads, all the disputes, all the agreements, all the laughs, all the sure-fire fixes.

I heard Jason Witten saying last night that it's been a long road and he talked about all they've gone through. Sheesh, he was in high school when we were dying with Jerry and Lacewell in the 1990s.

I posted on BBS back in 1994-95. While there were not alot of people chatting there was still a primitive BBS before 96-97. I was posting and chatting with people then. I actually found my computer tutor on the board as well.

BBS, well actually I meant more of Message Board much like this not BBS. Yep, I used to post on BBS, but was not about sports though. BBS died about the time Message Boards became prevalent.

I hear ya... I was just taking myself back to my "internet roots".
Lets face it. We were on the different boards in the early to mid 90's when ALOT of people were saying, "internet?? what is that??" - thats how I started my business.

Yeah. Thats what made me post it. BUT... the calendar year has turned and its striking me as different. A different decade, team and result.

Thats where I bought my top loading VHS recorder for the superbowl as I had to work and didn't want to miss it. I only discovered this CBZ earlier this year. I would go to Dallas Morning News to get Cowboy news. Didn't have a clue there were so many fans online in their own zone.
Picked a good year to get involved didn't I.

I was around for that. Rafael was a genius then, too. Sure don't miss the endless flamewars, especially with those holier-than-thou Packer fans in the pre-Chmura statutory rape days.

You know, if we can win the Super Bowl with this bunch of players, it may be the greatest team we've had, on and off the field. I suppose Skip Bayless will be around to ruin that, eventually, too...
