That is just revisionist history. We could pay him, he just wasn't worth a 16m cap hit with a 12m salary to us. We took the whole 8m cap hit to cut him outright.

He wasn't a great fit for our 4-3 and lets not pretend he is an All Pro in DEN

He had 10 sacks last year and 1 after Week 10
This year he missed 5 games and had 7.5 sacks opposite Von Miller and 1 sack after Week 8 until today

We couldn't pay him for the reasons I said and no one appears to be a very good fit in our defense that continues to disappoint every year. I'm not going to waste my time going through the entire Ware argument again. I said 2 years ago when he left he would play well in Denver and that our pass rush would continue to struggle.

You aren't going to waste your time because you are wrong.

He is playing well but is still overpaid. For us it would be even more dramatic. We got 6.5 sacks from Mincey for less than a million.

2012-13 with DAL- 17.5 sacks
2014-15 with DEN- 17.5 sacks. Not worth 20m guaranteed but not a bust either, especially opposite Von Miller

I'll be rooting for the Broncos just so Ware can finally get a ring.

He sure as hell wasn't getting one here with Ginger and Company:facepalm:

The sad part is I think DEZ might be in the same boat.....only chance DEZ will have to win a Superbowl will be with another team......Jerry, and Stephen Jones wasted any opportunity for Romo's and Witten to win a Championship. 1995 is so long ago.

but on the bright side....there is always hope, hype and good entertainment...with the Cowboys.

So it seems Ware just had to get a different team in order to get to the big game. I'm happy for him, just wish he was with us at the Superbowl.

Wade too, seems he's getting last laugh now.

How ironic is it that Ware and Wade might both get a SB ring..................and here we are at 4-12 and so far from sniffing a SB its not even funny:(

I think some of you are incapable of watching any pro football without sounding butt-hurt.

Our season is over. Everyone gets that. Somehow tying other teams' success to our recent failure is just so overdone.

Its not just a random team bro, the guy that won the game for the Broncos was the face of our franchise for years and their defensive coordinator was our head coach during that same time frame.

Kinda ironic and sad at the same time.....they both had to leave Dallas to experience going to a Superbowl.......that is not being butt hurt, that is a fact.

Its weak trying to blame the FO for not winning.

DWare, Romo, Witten, Dez, etc were paid well to win here. They have had plenty of chances and came up short.

I don't want to see them win somewhere else because "they deserve it".

They have had 20years to figure out how to win here.....20...most kids on this site have never seen the Cowboys win a championship..20 years of excuses.....John Elway an EX player takes over the Denver FO and with Tim Tebow as QB....They figure things out...and has the Bronco's in 2 SuperBowls in five years...... This organization is going on 20years without a SNIFF at the NFC Championship game along the SuperBowl....

How many playoff games has this Franchise won in 20years.... DWARE is going to the SuperBowl as Bronco not a Cowboy.....let that sink in.....

But you have to get the right scheme and coaches in place to help the players win.

Elway sure didn't have a problem replacing a head coach who couldn't get it done......a head coach that took his team to the SuperBowl just 2 years ago. I guess Elway didn't get the memo about continuity being more important than wins.

The players still have to play. It is on them. JJones has changed schemes and coaches too.

Wade reached his ceiling here, as did DWare.

Fans love over-reacting to the latest thing.

What about CAR? They stunk last year and lost their #1 WR before the season.

We have had more than enough talent to have won more since Romo got here.

So excited for the DeMarcus Ware!! He came up HUGE in the 4th quarter and especially on the last drive. He destroyed NE's LT pretty much on every play.

He looked ten years younger the way he was dipping and bending around that corner, the tackle didn't have a chance.

If we have so much talent around Romo, why the hell did we go 1-11 without him?

What's all this ruing?

Ware was consistently injured in his last days with Dallas. To resign him, it would have messed up our salary cap. And we were changing defenses.

I don't know if Ware had stayed here, he would be the same player he is in Denver.

Sometimes, you just have to let players go. This isn't the 70s where you can keep a player on your roster until he retires.

We had to part ways. I'm glad he's doing well in Denver.

It is what it is, and we have to move on.

The issue was he was battling an injury and he was asked to take a pay cut because Jerry thought he was just about done and he was wrong!

The actual issue is that Ware is and never was cut out to be a hand on the ground DE in a 4-3 defense and we couldn't afford him at his salary and also keep Romo and Dez and Smith and relegate Ware to part time status to "keep him fresh" like Denver does.

Nice stab at revisionist history, though.

The issue was his injuries which caused his production to go down therefore Jerry wanted him to take a pay cut and he refused. Granted Ware was better suited for the 3-4 which is why Parcells transitioned to that scheme. The Cowboys going back to the 4-3 hasn't done any good they still can't generate much of a pass rush and Gregory who's having trouble putting on weight didn't record a single sack this season. I really don't think the Cowboys have any idea what they're doing they just change to make changes hoping something will work.

Cowboy defense has been bad since forever it seems.
