It really depends on the guy he is competing for the 53rd spot,I would keep him over the Kowalskis and Arkins of the world because they will never amount to anything.Tanney has a chance(albeit a slim one) to be our backup next year, that is a huge deal.

I'm not sure if he has the ability to be the backup next year or not, but if that is likely then he is worth the roster spot.

Orton's contract goes through 2014, so Tanney would have 2 seasons to show he can do the job.

Yes. But part of the value in him being the backup is the replacement of Orton at a much cheaper cap hit.

Congratulation for making it past the 1st cut? lol

I hope Tanny can remain with the Cowboys likely it will be PS if he does. It is not like he is a new comer, KC got him as an UDFA he went to Pitt and buffalo and was not signed. So this notion there is no way he will make it to the Practice squad is a bit far fetched. He could get picked up but it is not like teams do not know of him hell they released him

Bills have their own Tanney in Jeff Tuel.

Tuel has looked a lot better than Tanney. Tuel has had 43 attempts and completed 72.1% compared to Tanney who's had 42 attempts and has only completed 54.8%. Tuel has a passer rating of 106.6 compared to Tanney who has a passer rating of 70.1. Tuel has clearly shown something which is why Buffalo is going to start him if Manual can't go.

Don't be surprised if Orton is TRADED to meet our O line needs!!!!

Orton is an important player who isn't going anywhere unless we have someone who can do his job, IMO. Right now we aren't even close. Although I would like to see Tanney on the 53, I want him there with Orton. If we have to choose between them for some reason, it would be Orton all the way.

ESPN says that Tanney is slated to go the distance tonight.
Huge opportunity for the kid to show his stuff to Dallas and, if we let him go, the rest of the league.

Cool. I kind of like the last preseason game. Just to see the bottom-roster guys go wire:wire. Even though, what 21 of these guys won't even make the squad?

Can we please stop pinning our quarterbacking hopes on undrafted free agents?

Cut this nobody.

Lol. Nobody but that crazy guy is considering Tanney anything other than a developmental 3rd QB. Personally, I'm just hoping he shows enough that we're comfortable not spending a high pick on QB in the next draft, because there are other areas I'd rather see us address. So it's kind of an anti-QB hope thing for me.

I think we're seeing why the decision to add Tanney to the roster or not has to have been made before tonight. Really not fair to try to judge him with that wet tissue paper O-line in front of him.
