There was no doubt Deuce was going to be an NFL player ever since he tore apart an Alabama defense full of pro prospects in his last bowl game.

Of course his height dropped him to the 6th round. But remember that all draft grades scouts give players taken from the 3rd-7th round are extremely close. Deuce being picked 212th is not a big a slight as some think.
hes in the NFL. no one cares where he was drafted. I'm happy for the kid.

I don’t see Sproles.

They have similar size but Deuce plays RB like a traditional RB.

Sproles was more of a WR out of the backfield.

Deuce can do that but his best attribute is running between the tackles.
I can see Deuce having even more of an impact than Sproles, because he's a tad more versatile. You're right about his ability between the tackles. I think Deuce is even more versatile, because he can play in the slot and run outside as well. His receiving ability is still underrated by most fans. I didn't realize that until after we drafted him because I was certain the Cowboys would go for a back more like Dwayne McBride, since he compares similarly to backs in the past like Murray.

Don't get me wrong. I liked his ability; I was just certain the Cowboys wouldn't draft him even though his pops is a scout for the team. Happy to be wrong. The more I learned about him, the more I liked him.

How does his blocking look?

Cause he’s gonna get trucked.
if used right, it wont matter. Hes not an every down back. Are ya itching for him to get trucked or something? Jeesh, try being a bit more hopeful man. BTW, for his size, he can hit hard.

I can't see them asking Deuce to block. Maybe he can pick up a corner blitz if he has to, but it's clear they are going to use him as a scatback and slot receiver.

McBride's available.

Oh hell yes. This team loves him and I bet they treat him like a little boy...lol. And now he is playing with the big brothers that love him, you can see it in film they like him. Yes, some say he is just a gadget player, well, he might be, and he will trick the field your on. They don't cut a player like him, and we will get to see him coming up, and that is when his adrenalin will kick in. Feed him up good with some Spanish. The NFL is going to be surprised, so are we.

Oh, he was not here to block, he is here to run like hell is after him.

Classy move here BlindFaith, hope others are inspired by it.
He obviously didnt do his homework on Deuce even after he was drafted. Some of us knew how good this kid was leading up to the draft.

My only concern about Deuce is holding up. His ability to run with the football I have no concerns. I actually think he can be a hell of a weapon. And seeing as though Dowdle will probably go down at some point, duece is going to get his opportunities.

See now you're a true-blue Dallas Cowboys fan. There's about 20 (I'm being kind today) people here that could learn from you. They root against our team because they hate a certain player and want him to fail so they can say "I told you so!"

Classy post, brother.
Ive been a true blue cowboys fan for 46 years.

I said the day we drafted him he would make the 53, even if it came down to Jerry making sure of it. They made far too big a deal drafting him for him not to make the team.
I think Deuce earned his spot no jerry rigging needed :muttley:

If Duece turns out to be a success, all the haters will be like I knew he was going be a great player

So I was wrong. He made the 53. Not the direction I would have went, but it doesnt matter now.

I hope he plays even half as well as some of you have promoted. Would have been nice to see more in PS, but it is what it is.

Not sure what the plan is with RoJo. I know hes out the first two. Thought if they were going to cut him that theyd do it now. They could cut him after game two. They could still bring him on. That'll force someone off.

For now, I just want Duece to contribute. Every spot is valuable. But he is officially a Dallas Cowboy and I wish him well.
Classy post, bro. Props.

Not all the haters. I’ll gladly admit I was wrong if he turns out to be a great player. I don’t have a vested interest in player prognostication and I get that supporting my team trumps my need to be correct.

Can see where your statement comes from though as some on this forum will die on the hill just to be right.

I watched his game against the Crimson Turds and heard Bammers almost have an aneurism over him.

I was sold on the dude then.

Absolutely the only knock on him is his height and that is absolutely not an issue at RB.

Size at RB gets trumped by low center of gravity, speed and instincts. Deuce has those attributes.

Already been said in here, he'll get stuffed a lot but there'll be times when the Defense is gassed or he just finds a crease behind Martin and it'll be off to the races.

All in on the Short King.
