Connor McGovern is terrible

I kind of see the point you are making

But when we were no match for the 49ers in the playoffs, who were not the best team in there division
We were beaten by the AFC West (other than the Chargers)
And we dominated a terrible NFC East
So the question is, not if we are better than the NFC East, but are we better than we were last year? Because last year we did not win a playoff game and if the goal is to get better every year, being 12 - 5 means nothing, because that 12 - 5 team was not good
enough.

I don’t think it’s the players. It’s coaching and culture. There’s been plenty of talented players that rolled thru Dallas the past 25 years. And what do they have in common? They ain’t won a thing. fans are
Quick to blame the players because of the money they make. Yet all of us would take it.

There's a difference between flawed and trash.

We drafted two players on the OL. We’ll see how the OL plays out in camp. The Cowboys sound like they haven’t given up on McGovern but no guarantees he makes the team.

I know smith will beat out McGovern but we didn't draft another guard we drafted another tackle.

He's a solid reserve player. Lower your bar of expectation.

The other guy we drafted could have position flex. That’s one of the reasons we drafted Smith.

Offensive linemen developing as late as their 4th year isn't unheard of. I'm glad we aren't relying on him as a starter, but I'm not throwing in the towel yet.

You "know" he will "beat out" McGovern?

If you change that to you "know Smith will likely be given a starting job regardless", then you would be making a statement consistent with this organizations tendencies.

He is willing to play FB at the goal line and short yardage.
Just go jumbo at GL and hand him the ball.
He is willing and able to lineup at FB and TE for blocking
That is great for short yardage
I don’t know if he can handle the ball but he can block and add some beef to the blocking

McGovern played well at RG filling in for Martin before. He just hasn't done as well on the opposite side.

I can't defend the draft .

We've had great picks, but also terrible busts under Stephens FO .

Lets see how this plays out .

the three games he started, he was so bad they had to put williams back and we didn't even want to keep williams.....

This is the type of info that needs to be added in an OP. That was what my comment was about.
I wasn't disagreeing. But when a thread is created, do not do a drive by post. Add some info and substance.

Like when posting a link to something in an OP. Add some info to go with it.

Should would be nice if that was a rule.

If we go into the year with him as the backup guard

He is terrible...the only reason we didn't bring it up before was because CWilliams was getting all the heat. McGovern couldn't even beat out CWilliams, that's how bad he was. I'll be glad to get rid of him once his contract is up too. We should be able to find his replacement easy with the new guys signed up.

There isn't a dt in the NFL that can't constantly drive him backwards
