Connor Williams had a solid game against Jets

It might not be until next year when we see the Travis Frederick we're used to seeing. He's still better than most of the centers in the league, but his strength and coordination is still probably not where he was pre-illness. It's something that just takes time.
That's what I was thinking.

I heard Schlereth say that as well........

Agreed. Sua-Filo is bigger and stronger than Connor Williams, but that's about it. Williams is a better athlete, has better feet in pass protection, can kick out and hit targets on the second level better, and has far better balance.

Rookie OL rarely play, much less contribute. Williams was an under-developed rookie and XSF was a 5th year player - but last year both had the same number of starts and both gave up the same number of sacks.

No team plays well with both OTs out with injury. But what fans always underestimate is the reps required for an OL to play together, develop timing, do block handoffs seamlessly, etc.

Last year in the Rams game we had 2 DTs playing when they should have been off the field and the Rams had an OL that had played together for the entire season. On top of that the Rams had a great blocking scheme for the game. Put those three together and your defense gets killed, but you have to have the whole unit playing together most of the season to have the cohesion to execute that kind of scheme in the first place.

49ers just beat the Rams to take control of the NFC West with both their starting OTs out.

Frederick is not playing well, which is part of the problem.
I think the entire offensive line is having an issue I don't know if it's mental. Culture. Something's not right with this group. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're not happy about Elliott signing. They're not protecting for him

It's all about coaching isn't it.6 it sucks losing especially by one or two plays

I feel like Frederick and Martin have been the bigger problem this year, particularly in the run game.

I have a feeling in the back of my mind. That pissed about something. Possibly the Elliott signing. Possibly coaching. Something's going on that we don't know about. The culture isn't right

There is no question that the OL is hurting. LT/RT out, C recovering from a major injury, RG playing injured, heck, Williams is really the only healthy OL right now. That's definitely a big part of the problem but even still, that doesn't account for the way we've lost. We really should have won every single game from what I've seen, with the exception of the Jets. I didn't see the Jets game.

Even pass protection Prescott gotten buried against the Jets.

San Fran just pounded the ball (weren’t even that good at it, 100 yards on 41 carries), converted 50% of their third downs, held the ball for nearly 40 minutes and played good defense.

Good coaches find ways to try to mitigate injury issues. We rarely seem to be able to overcome them.

I'm not sure how Martin did vs the Jets but before that game he was ranked one of the best pass blockers in the league.
I'm thinking the culture of the entire offensive line. There's something happening and no one Speaking. Even with injuries when not that bad in this area. Running games failing and Prescott's getting destroyed. Just a gut feeling in my cowboy brother something in the culture

This has to be on of the worst analysis, Connor has cost the team 6 TDs so far, and you forgot the constant pressure up the middle as he was getting manhandled
I don't like how Williams is supposedly the only starter that's not injured yet he's played signficantly worst than all 4 of them. You could argue that undrafted rookie Knight is playing at least as well as Williams (both those statements are kinda embarassing)

I'm not arguing the point. I'm trying to figure out what the hell's going on with this team. Either we suck and we're not as good as we think we are. All the motivation to coaching has lost it. What's the symptoms of culture someone's pissed about something. But this is not the normal for us. Waking up in the second half

We were the king of fourth-quarter last season. Did it finally just come up and bite us. I don't know

What makes you think he's played the worst? Explain that

Why do you say he's played significantly worse?

I remember the year we drafted to Zack Martin I was one of the very few on the original Cowboys fan form that wanted him because I paid attention to Notre Dame everyone was screaming defense and I didn't know what I was talking about. And then two seasons after it was like it was a genius. But that's not the point. The point is he's a run making machine. And so is Freddy. Pass-blocking was never his strong suit but he doesn't stink at it. Something's not right with this offensive line I think the culture. That's the locker room the coaching
