Signed by Cowboys Conor Riley hired as Cowboys' Offensive Line coach

This team is forever eating the cheese so that wouldn't suprise me. It still makes me furious because we had a lot of things going our way against GB and it didn't matter in the least. Any rational person would think there was work to do. The Jones FO seems to believe if they can hang by the rim one day the ball will magically fall in.

This staff is really encouraging and as uninspired as the Schottenheimer hiring was i can see a world where he does the things a HC needs to do better than his prior jobs as coordinator. It is a bit of a different skill set. His ability to assemble a staff looks strong, so one down.
Schottenheimer led us to this staff.

Thats so true.

This guy is not near NFL material. It is embarrassing to watch him while moderators do everything to not laugh out loud into their microphones.

Now we hire a coach to belie our abmysal drafting? Instead of getting rid of that player and admit it was a feel good story and nothing more.

And seriously. If this guy is so heralded then why does he sign a contract that will be the cheapest of all possible NFL contracts he could get?

Thats just rubbish.
A back that can get 5 yards a carry in an NFL game is NFL material. To say that he isn't is ridiculous.

Yep, 2023 when they led the league in scoring offense and Dak was MVP runner up was just terrible.
I think you need to revisit the playoff game. You know, the most important game of the year.

To say McCarthy crapped the bed is a huge understatement.

I think you're talking about but it must be Rico I don't follow that guy I have him on ignore and yes he's NFL material but he's still tier two guy he doesn't have a lot of long speed and he doesn't score a lot of touchdowns he doesn't house things it is not very dynamic he does not deserve a big contract in that case I'm saying yes he's NFL material he should be on teams but he should be the rotational guy not the starter...

I like Rico but if he's asking for any more than I don't know 4 million I'm not even considering it and even that I might not look at his age again he doesn't have a lot of burst he doesn't have anything that's special he's just really good at being a grinder and I like his effort and yes he put up good numbers and if you need to argue with this guy just tell him to go see the numbers across the board and see that Rico was like in the top 10 to 12 and yards and also his average but you look at the Kansas City Chiefs their starter was Kareem hunt Rico is every bit as good as Kareem hunt I mean the numbers were as good or better than Tony Pollard lot of people like Tony around here he said we should have got rid of him so yes in that case Rico deserves to be on an NFL team and hopefully that's here but he's gotta be realistic about what he's asking...

While we may not respect Shottenheimer, it seems apparent that he is respected by coaches around the league and beyond. It has not taken him long to put together a very nice coaching staff.
He is bringing in some good coaches.
Getting them before Kellen Moore goes to NO, and he will be there hiring the leftovers. :muttley:

I'm telling ya' that Jerry is a genius and he is doing it by accident. What is his word, serendipity.

Vaughn had 6.2 yards per carry against the Commanders.

There was a reason everyone in the stadium got excited when Deuce came in. He’s an exciting player like Turpin.
I would like to see Deuce used like Cole Beasley was used , in the slot.Create some packages let him get open ,and see what he can do after the catch. This team is building a running game and the Deuce will do his thing I expect. This coaching staff looks really good.

Oh that's a whole different can of worms I haven't seen enough of him I know his college career was impressive I know he could probably do more but he's more of a gadget guy rico's real NFL back so I don't know what the other guys arguing but I wouldn't call Vaughn an everyday starter he's not much more of a guy you bring in for some packages but sure I think he can play maybe this new staff can help him resurrect his career but Dan Quinn's defense can't stop the run that's not new lol we gotta see it more consistently but this guy needs to be in space off tackle have some designs motions move them all around and sure he could be used but we still need to pick up a dynamic starting running back in the draft

I hope this new staff gives him a chance. That being said bringing in two backs has to be a priority, even if one of them is Dowdle. Because the previous staff failed to use Vaughn, not even running him much after our season was essentially over last year, we simply don't know if he can shine when given a prolonged chance. His rookie year, he looked good in the few snaps he received as part of the regular offense, rather than the ones he received when we were trying to run the clock out. And last year, he looked good in the few snaps he received, especially when he got them in the regular offense against Washington.

I think it's silly to write him off, as some want to do, but it also would be silly to just rely on him. IMO, when we figured out that Elliott and Cook were done, we should have turned the No. 2 RB snaps over to Vaughn, no matter the outcome. Then, we'd have a much better idea about his reliability.

I will bet my left nut Guyton won't be your starting left tackle by 2026.....He's that awful.....McClay reached badly. If anything.....try him on the right side to salvage the pick. No way in hell do I trust him on the left side.
Could be a painful loss Floaty.

IMHO he's gaslighting fans by saying it's going to be business as usual. I see the thread, and I don't agree with the standard answers, look he may not seem to know what he's talking about but I think he's just playing possum right now, and he may not go all in as everyone wants around here ,but I think he's going to do a little bit more to make this change at the coaching level look like a step up versus what has been said at the beginning of this process..
Besides re-signing our top players, I'm just hoping for four free agent or trade moves: No. 2 receiver, veteran CB (to start while Diggs is out), an Eberflus LB (especially with Overshown out) and an RB starter possibility.

I expect us to re-sign Odighizuwa, so I can't see us bring in another top DT in free agency, but I hope it is a draft priority, along with RB, even if we bring in a starter possibility in FA.

second round picks should be difference makers. How many are there here? I see three out of 15 and some could argue. Lee, Diggs and Lawrence.
This is the problem with relying on the draft. Fans feel like second-round picks should be difference makers, but three out of 15 is closer to the norm than 15 out of 15.

Here's Baltimore's past 10 (was going to do 15, but got tired of it): OL Roger Rosengarten, LB David Ojabo (1 career start), RB J.K. Dobbins (cut after three years because of injury issues), OLB Tyus Bowser (did not start a game until his fourth season and only has one season where he was a full-time starter), OLB/DE Kamalei Correa (gone after two seasons), TE Maxx Williams (21 starts over four years, high of 32 receptions in a season), DT Timmy Jernigan (spent three years in Baltimore, did have 15 starts his third year), LB Arthur Brown (three years with Baltimore, zero starts), T Kelechi Osemele (started every game he played in over four seasons), WR Torrey Smith (started every game over four years, solid No. 2 receiver).

So comparing that to our best being Lawrence, Diggs and Lee (starters as long as they were healthy), Baltimore, considered to be a well-run team, would be 2 out of 10.

Even if you give them three or four out of 10 for Dobbins and because we don't know how Rosengarten will turn out, we overvalue the draft and have expectations that don't meet reality. The reality is that a 50 percent hit rate on second-rounders is about the best you can expect as far as finding difference-makers goes.
