Signed by Cowboys Conor Riley hired as Cowboys' Offensive Line coach

on the offensive side it looks like Brian schottenheimer had a plan it looks very well thought out as far as you know how we talk about actual football on the field being complimentary these all make sense they seem to all snap together with one philosophy and that's a good thing on paper anyway..

So, I like this staff on a whole I think it's better than the last couple of years I know that's debatable and I know I'm trying to have some cautious optimism but on paper i like the way this feels better than i had the last two seasons.....

And on the defensive side I don't think a lot's been talked about but I think we're at least parallel I mean Zimmer and either flus maybe different in some ways but I think they both have that old school background and they're going to run a defense very similarly even if the scheme is different so I think it's going to be somewhere in between Zimmer and Quinn as far as this is going to look..

but really, overall, I went from being a little bit at a loss for words with Brian Schottenheimer was hired like everyone else looked like this was just hire that Jerry went with what was comfortable and easy, and it didn't make a lot of sense, but now it's a B plus in my mind with room to get better.. we need to see what happens on the field for sure..

This now is in the hands of Jerry Jones and the front office,

will they try to bolster this higher this new coaching staff by giving it a little more support than last offseason.... That way he can prove himself right and I think that's the way Jerry will look at this is he better do a lot more to get better this offseason in order to have this these hires look right.. you know so he can be right, he wants to prove the world wrong..

IMHO he's gaslighting fans by saying it's going to be business as usual. I see the thread, and I don't agree with the standard answers, look he may not seem to know what he's talking about but I think he's just playing possum right now, and he may not go all in as everyone wants around here ,but I think he's going to do a little bit more to make this change at the coaching level look like a step up versus what has been said at the beginning of this process..

Duece should not even be on the team.
Thats so true.

This guy is not near NFL material. It is embarrassing to watch him while moderators do everything to not laugh out loud into their microphones.

Now we hire a coach to belie our abmysal drafting? Instead of getting rid of that player and admit it was a feel good story and nothing more.

And seriously. If this guy is so heralded then why does he sign a contract that will be the cheapest of all possible NFL contracts he could get?

Thats just rubbish.

I will bet my left nut Guyton won't be your starting left tackle by 2026.....He's that awful.....McClay reached badly. If anything.....try him on the right side to salvage the pick. No way in hell do I trust him on the left side.
I was never sold on him for sure. Huge ask to get him to move. But we also could have ended up with Kingsley Sumatia. The Chiefs thought so highly of him he started like one game early and rode the bench for the rest of the season…

That's is so true. He knows what he wants to do and he is getting a staff in place to execute his vision.
The last couple of years it seemed very disjointed with a different types of coaches on the same team with different peresepctives,

including Brian schottenheimer,

I believe he has a little bit different vision for this offense than Mike McCarthy ,and I believe that was part of the problem with getting Mike McCarthy back here,

because I'm betting and this is just my gut ,

it wasn't just about years,

it wasn't about money I believe Jerry went in there and said hey Mike if you want to come back you have to give up your play calling duties I want Schottenheimer to take over the offense, and hire his own position coaches, and I believe that's where this went sideways and I'm glad it did... I'm glad for once Jerry stood his ground just like he didn't want Mike Nolan and just like he preferred Kellen Moore over Mike McCarthy as a offensive play caller but he gave Mike McCarthy what he wanted but Jerry was kind of right and I know that's crazy around here to give Jerry a compliment but Dan Quinn was better than Mike Nolan that was a Jerry Jones hire and Jerry Jones had to eat that contract with Mike Nolan after one year which he usually doesn't do ,I also believe Kellen MOORE was his guy ,and he would have preferred to keep him but he placated Mike and it didn't work out..

This is just my opinion and on paper I think it looks better it feels better, and we'll see what it looks like on the field...

I dont even want "all in," just a couple of smart free agent signings could go a long way. We can't afford to sit it out anymore.

Good hire, no nepotism.
offensuve staff is starting to look nice. Establishing the run seems to be a key this offseason.
Josh Simmons at 12 or Jeanty at 12 .....
According to Broaddus talking to folks on Media Row, Simmons injury was pretty significant (torn patellar tendon) and he may not be ready for awhile. Damn Shane because I too wouldn’t have minded him @ 12.

:hammer:I believe they will do this, but been fooled before, stay tuned.. But I believe they were still smelling themselves coming off 36 wins two division titles three straight playoff appearances and approached it in a different way didn't see the big injuries coming and a lot of them I know it sounds like excuses but I believe coming off an embarrassing season with big turnover lot of blowback it didn't work the way they handled it I believe they will at least do a little bit more giving these circumstances are different...losing season needs more work to flip..

You know how Jerry loves those injury gambles in the 2nd round.

i wonder if he will put in some walk up RPO's that would be a change for sure..slow everything down give Dak and the recieving core max visibility of what the coverage is....but in NFL the edge speed might be too much for it.

I also 100% believe Jerry told McCarthy his play calling days are over. These last couple of years after Kellen left have been awful.

For me, I wanted McCarthy gone so bad I didn't care what it took to get him out. If this was the tipping point, I'm glad it did also.

And I have a great history in the second round picks but I'm betting it average wise it's like this for all teams and lately has not been injury projects some reaches yes there's some pretty good names in this list from the last 1 years...Diggs, Tank, Lee, conner Williams Auzie, Lee, and Bennett all good to great players on the TBD Sam Williams and Kneeland , some bad one were hill and Escobar, joseph.. BUT Jaylon was the only injury concern on that list form what i remember... but sure KJ and Gregory were red flags.. But Jaylon made PB and wasn't complete bust.. so some of these narratives are strange. again, make comp to other teams drafts and you will find teams making a reach on players who were great Pre-injury like lock top 10 prospects and take that risk in hopes they get a steal.

It's a change from Sorry Solari ... but hope it works it out ..in spite Riley's lack of NFL experience trend war coaching

they are doing all the right things regarding the coaching staff to try to make up for the Head Coach hire. I will know if they are serious about winning or not by how they handle free agency. If they don't pony up for at least one guy on the first day or two, it's business as usual and a losing record again
Yes totally agree, this is a very good looking coaching staff out of the ordinary positive for Ol Jerry .I am impressed , and if a couple of good free agents are brought in early ,I will feel that things are improving drastically .

second round picks should be difference makers. How many are there here? I see three out of 15 and some could argue. Lee, Diggs and Lawrence.

So Jerry is going to try to win with coaching now, as we know he will slack on getting players.
He already said so.

Just glad he did not run it back with Solari.

This team is forever eating the cheese so that wouldn't suprise me. It still makes me furious because we had a lot of things going our way against GB and it didn't matter in the least. Any rational person would think there was work to do. The Jones FO seems to believe if they can hang by the rim one day the ball will magically fall in.

This staff is really encouraging and as uninspired as the Schottenheimer hiring was i can see a world where he does the things a HC needs to do better than his prior jobs as coordinator. It is a bit of a different skill set. His ability to assemble a staff looks strong, so one down.
