Signed by Cowboys Conor Riley hired as Cowboys' Offensive Line coach

they are doing all the right things regarding the coaching staff to try to make up for the Head Coach hire. I will know if they are serious about winning or not by how they handle free agency. If they don't pony up for at least one guy on the first day or two, it's business as usual and a losing record again
My thought: It's business as usual - no free agent pickups for at least 2-3 weeks.

Nice post.
Right on point no doubt.

My first thought is .......

Beebe to left guard......
Tyler to left tackle.....
Guyton......huge question mark....right guard?

Quit trying to make Tyler at tackle happen. It’s not going to happen.

You’ll have Guyton and Steele as your tackles. Get used to it.

Come on man, their "investment" in Deuce was a 6th round pick. They make a miniumum of one of those each year, and probably cut the majority of them loose after their first contract, if not sooner. They did not hire anyone thinking "let's see if we can get something out of our 6th round pick investment".

I mean be real, it's not like he was a $100m signing the Cowboys needed to justify.
Agree but how the Jones boys think as far as investment these days is pretty accurate. It's kinda backward thinking and a failed way to make a team better on the field but we are talking about the Jones boys here lol...not what we think.

I will bet my left nut Guyton won't be your starting left tackle by 2026.....He's that awful.....McClay reached badly. If anything.....try him on the right side to salvage the pick. No way in hell do I trust him on the left side.

“if used right”? Who was the Cowboys offensive coordinator? Do the Kansas City Chiefs have a 5’5” 176lb. “Speciality player”? How about the Cowboys concentrate on developing a superior offensive line before thinking they can finesse their way to wins.
I'll try to answer your questions. But first one question of mine:

Whats wrong with "If used right" ? Things done right are good things generally.

Now on to yours:

Who was the Cowboys OC?
- Schotty

Do KC has a speciality player?
- IDK I don't follow the Chiefs, I know a lot of teams have speciality players in the history of football and have been succesful. Some even have players only for kick returning or for end zone plays, or for short yard running plays.

How about the cowboys concentrate, bla bla...
- Yeah sure, that'd be great, I'll talk to Jerry.

Hope that helped.

So the OC that didn’t use him right will now be the head coach that will use him right. Fantasizing about guys who can’t get on the field becoming contributors because the team’s OC was elevated to HC is nonsense. If the Cowboys are going to become competitive they’ll have to do it the way other teams do. Build quality lines, offense and defense. It won’t happen in the next six months, but it’s time to emulate properly run franchises so we don’t have watch the Eagles, 49ers, and Rams in the Super Bowl year after year.

Hate to tell you, they NEVER do anything the first couple of days of free agency because it coincides with the Jones' family yearly vacation on the yacht. That's how little Jerry cares about winning.

Deuce is staying. Look at the hire. The Joneses wanna see if their investment can become something more. McCarthy never really used Deuce right . He was big on the vets. Shotty will see if he can make steak dinner out of chopped meat. This hire is great. Problem is, we aren't very good and need free agents.

I imagine we draft a rb1 fairly early, Rico(rb2) gets re-signed at a reasonable deal and Deuce is our rb3. I do believe this staff will attempt to use Deuce. I am not sold there is a use that justifies his roster spot, but I'm happy to see him get the opportunity if they believe in him.

Well, the thread is about the new O line coach who coached the player in question before and had very good run with him.

Talking about that in this forum is "fantasizing" and somehow hurting the team chances for success?

You surely are a joy to be around.

TBF thinking the Cowboys will build quality lines on offense and defense with this FO is a much deeper fantasy.

Also expecting the Joneses to emulate "properly run franchises" at this point is the mother of all fantasies!

To each his own I guess.

.

Other than the huge questions about the HC, the rest of the staff is looking legit. Losing Harris sucks but it is what it is.

I gotta give Schotty credit.

But, we'll see how serious the owners are after the draft & free agency.

Kansas St had a pretty good run game. Giddens might be a consideration in the draft

McClay didn't draft him. Comon on Floaty you know that.

He isn't awful. He looked good at times. He was a rookie. He changed positions. He needed work. He will be better next year.

What position he will end up at is impossible to tell. All new coaches will see things differently and have their own ideas.

Good hire, no nepotism.
offensuve staff is starting to look nice. Establishing the run seems to be a key this offseason.
Josh Simmons at 12 or Jeanty at 12 .....

Your correct. Staff looks formidable
But it takes good players willing to be coached and buy in.

why close the other thread on this coach, instead merge it ,so we can continue convos that are still active??

I agree especially on the offensive side it looks like Brian schottenheimer had a plan it looks very well thought out as far as you know how we talk about actual football on the field being complimentary these all make sense they seem to all snap together with one philosophy and that's a good thing on paper anyway..

So, I like this staff on a whole I think it's better than the last couple of years I know that's debatable and I know I'm trying to have some cautious optimism but on paper i like the way this feels better than i had the last two seasons.....
