Contractors and construction workers - I need some advice

Calico,

He did not show at 5, he called a couple times and i told hin what i thought the amount of work he did was worth and there was no way i was going to pay him what he was asking, and expalined that he broke every aspect of the verbal contract we had more than once.

Then he tried to say he gets paid 40 dollars an hour and he was going to bill me for those hours, i said im still not paying that because you did not behave in a professional manner and our agreement was not an hourly rate.

He told me he was coming right over and we would come to an agreement, i said go ahead then. But he never showed up, and hasnt called yet today.
Bottom line, you have no contract with him other than verbal. The work is not complete nor satisfactory. He is not a licensed contractor. He hasn't got a leg to stand on and you don't owe him a penny if you choose not to pay him.

ummm... Hoov... you were supposed to go pick him UP...

btw... Happy Belated Birthday...

LOL, that was funny, thanks for the BDay wishes. Playing football this saturday, and the team wants me to play man coverage on defense. we'll see if i can still keep up with the young bucks.

Though PI is only a 5 yard penalty in this league, so i may do a little jersey grabbing off the line if i go against a real speedster.

I pretty much thought that was the case, being that i also do work in construction, i'm not one to try to take advantage and not pay someone what they are due, but i have given him more than one opportunity to make things right and he has done nothing to help his cause.

There isn't a court in this land that would award him a dime.

...get another guy on site and get your work done. Don't piss around if you can help it.

I get the feeling this guy is going to be one of those annoying boomerangs and you may think you have shown him the door, but he keeps coming back.

By having someone else comploete the work you have another estimate/billing to take to arbitration if this guy decides to get serious.

BTW, take pictures. Be thorough with this situation, you never know when someone serves you notice. Although he seems to be the type who can't find his shoelaces why take the chance.

As I said before...boomerang.

Any news? Did he come around at all or contact you?? You know he will show up when you are gone this weekend...
