Contrary to belief, we're rebuilding

Even though I wanted Manziel, I'm glad we drafted for need(s). Look at the teams that are competing in our division (Panthers, 9ers, Seahawks) who all have recently rebuilt.. We're drafting exactly how they did, beef up the o-line/ d-line.

A lot of people wanted to take a safety in the first which is understandable, but not every team is going to have an Earl Thomas in the back; content with ours for now (church and Wilcox)

I think we'll contend again in 2-3 years. My hopes aren't high for this season bc I'm not going to disappoint myself, per usual.

Just my 2 Lincoln's.

I think the term rebuilding in the NFL doesn't mean what it used to mean. There is so much turnover from year to year that you are constantly in a rebuilding mode. I mean to say it will be 3 years before we compete... The guys we drafted just 1-2 years ago won't be here anymore. You just can take 3-5 years anymore to "build a team" Look at the Jets. They were in back to back AFC championships just 3 years ago. They have an almost completely new team right now and They will probably be a playoff team again this year. We are just now learning how to operate in this salary cap world. Plus this is not the 90s where the top teams are great on both sides of the ball. Get great at one side and average on the other and you are right there in the mix to win it all.

I took a survey course in austin awhile back but I actually got that from reading the History of Western Philosophy on my own. I graduated EE.

Awesome, I took an intro philosophy class in college but don't remember a thing. Computer Science here by the way.

So essentially your confirming that 'it happens', i.e. natural process. That is why I said it is called turnover. We haven't been rebuilding, we've had our same core players. BTW, Wade's last year was 2010. Players like Costa and Dez Bryant, as well as Sean Lee were drafted that year. These are the core players, outside guys like Romo, Witten, Ware and Spencer. We've gone after guys like Carr during free-agency, because we were a CB away. We hired Ryan and fired him. We promoted Callahan and demoted him, after demoting Garrett from play-calling and brought in Linehan.

The idea we've been following some sort of rebuild, grand-master plan is a joke, plain and simple.

Except Garrett actually told us we were Rebuilding, at least those of us who were listening..

The offense is clearly much further along in the rebuilding process. Only Romo, Witten and Free are older than 26 of the top 15 or so offensive players . Witten's replacement may already be on the roster in Escobar, we'll see. The defense obviously has a lot of work to do...

LOL... It's a nice excuse... Actions speak louder than words. If this is his rebuilding, he clearly has no idea what he is doing. I guess the Monte Kiffin cluster was just part of this rebuilding process.

It's very hard to find a franchise QB. You don't rebuild when you have one. The idea we have been rebuilding is a myth. This team has always thought they could win with Romo.

And that's why we are always 8-8. You can't go half in to rebuilding. You have to do it all the way no matter if you have a franchise QB or not.

If I were building a team, I would start with the OLine and the offense. I should be faster to rebuild a defense and a bad defense does not get the QB killed.

It appears to have become a matter semantics within the organization whether to label what's happening at VR a matter of reloading, recharging, revamping or rebuilding. Jerry Jones cringes at the term "rebuilding" since, at least in his mind, it implies that we don't qualify as a contender any longer. To someone who's totally intent (salesmanship, you know) upon asserting that we are, indeed, a contending team, use of the term "rebuilding" is an unforgivable no-no. Whichever term is takes to "float your boat," there's a ton of change taking place within the ranks of the Cowboys' organization. Call it whatever it takes to suit you. Things within the confines of Valley Ranch are most definitely a-changing -- bigtime!

In today's NFL you are always rebuilding, retooling, replacing, or whatever term you want to use. I think Jerry is wise as an owner to avoid the term rebuilding even as the GM is doing so.

I agree with @Bullflop. I think it fair to say we have had a big talent deficit for awhile and we are S-L-O-W-L-Y overcoming it as is expected. However, I also think it fair to say we have had to overcome a big cap problem for some time. Those two compound the other. We've been hogtied. You're not going to retool overnight esp if one unit gets decimated by injuries.
