I think the circle was bigger back then. Today you have Romo-Witten and everybody else. Trust, if Spears notices it then the players in the locker room notice it as well.

And is that the point? He made a very valid observation.

There is a legitimate caste system in that locker room. Certain players are royalty. It has been that way for quite a while.

He is not the first player who has made the observation. And of course, players who say these things are bashed even if they are simply expressing their perception. And it is far more valid that what you, me or any other fan can make because, well, they have lived it. If Spears is noting this, chances are pretty strong someone else feels it as well.

Let's not act like if it were Robert Griffin III following Daniel Snyder around that people would not take it a certain way.

When I look at the bonds, legitimate bonds, that players like Irvin, Aikman, Smith, Johnston and others shared with each other back on those teams and then compare that to Witten and Romo, it just does not appear to be the same. There seems to be a little less of a wide reaching clique.

It is far more exclusive. I said it then, the Owens/Crayton/keeping it real Wednesday thing was a product of what may have been perceived as favoritism between Garrett towards Romo/Witten.

The only wrong message is that any Cowboys player can't be there. Witten was a 3rd round pick, Romo undrafted. They earned the respect they are getting. It wasn't just handed to them.

When the press called them the Triplets, all of the other Cowboys players were jealous and it sent the wrong message. All players should be looked at as exactly equal or tender feelings of professional athletes get hurt.

I did not deny he gets the royal treatment. But of course, that would be the hated Commanders and Snyder is botching things again. Since it is a Cowboy, it is okay.

FWIW, Romo and Witten have been there a very long time. Ware has been to some of these things in the past, though not many. He's gone of course.
My guess is that if Dez get's a second contract (so he would be possibly a team captain and an extended veteran) and continues to stay out of trouble, he will be in plenty of these situations. He already hangs occasionally at the Romo house.
The guy I would like to see in some of these pics is Tyron Smith.

I think Tyron will be part of the next group of guys in the inner sanctum. Lee, if he stays healthy. Dez, of course. And whoever the next QB is. Tyron's a young guy, 21-22. How many of those guys that age want to hang around 30yr+ married folks? Tyron was probably in another suite hanging out with T-Fred, Escobar, and those guys.

Kinda my point... lol While it's cool to bash, there's nothing interesting about hanging with those guys. These guys are young, single, and most don't have kids. And if they do, like Dez, they're still in the club, actively participating in all the things that young men do that will eventually get them MORE kids. ijs.

Before we go bashing the guys there, let's be real and see that other than Romo and Witten, what other guys would actually WANT to be there. They might want to meet some of those guys, but they don't want to kick back and drink beers out of cups with them.

As an aside, I just read that Demarco Murray was in the suite, too. Matter of fact, Murray was all over the Final Four events this past weekend. Tons of pics of him out there repping.

Sitting directly in front of Clinton and Bush was Tony Romo and his wife, Candice. Filling out the first row was DeMarco Murray, Jason Witten and his wife, Michelle. At halftime, there were lots of laughing among fellow invitees like Sandy and Michael Irvin.
