But if he were at least able to acknowledge a bad decision and move in a different direction, that would provide hope.
As it stands he stubbornly doubles down on bad decisions and compounds them. That's what this latest Dak extension was.
Nothing stopping Jerry from moving on from Dak and drafting a QB to start off fresh if that's what he really wanted to do. Nothing stopping him from getting a rookie QB and spending more money in free agency to build around him. But he figured resigning Dak was an easier way to avoid accountability. Knowing how some of the fans would act like Dak is the sole barrier holding the Cowboys back and that this front office would be able to put in any other QB who would lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl right after Dak's departure.
He also knew it would be harder to use the cap as an excuse for being cheap, if they never decided to resign Dak this offseason and drafted a rookie QB who they had to build around instead. Yet some act like Dak held Jerry hostage and made him sign the extension.
