Cost for moving Cowboys video board will be "at least $2 million"

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen (we got the head's up from Darren Rovell's Twitter page), the cost of moving the monstrous, four-sided drive-in movie screen out of the path of punted footballs will be "at least $2 million."

But that doesn't mean Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will agree to tinker with one of his favorite features of the new venue.

Per Mort, it's Jones' position that the video board was constructed in accordance with "league specifications," and Jones has "no intentions of raising it to a higher level."

That said, Mort reports that a "preliminary discussion" already has occurred regarding an adjustment.

The next question becomes the responsibility for the costs of moving the thing up. Our guess is that Jones will insist that the league cover the expenses.

And it's hard to argue with that, if as it appears the league approved the current configuration.

It blows my mind that they can hit that thing. I couldn't kick a ball filled with helium that high. Amazing.

I think the Titans punter was trying to hit it and in a real game no one would. You punt downfield for distance not straight up.

I kinda agree with that. If the league is gonna make Jerry raise the videoboard, even though it is within league specifications, then they should pay for it. That's my opinion anyway.

You could if you used your soccer ball, Hos.

Theo and someone else said they had to raise the thing anyway for an upcoming concert, so now I'm confused.

Dont' want to sound like a homer, but I agree with JJ. The league told him how high he had to put it, and he did it.

2 million to the NFL is like a nickel to any of us.

*Edit......I bet Jerry could get Buehler to lift it up another 20 feet for under 100 bucks.

Allow me to clear something up.

From what I've gathered around here, U2 requested to have the board at its current level. It was basically a deal breaker from what I understand. So the earliest the board could be moved would be sometime in early October.

Except that the guy's do-over kick, which also almost hit the screen, sailed all the way down to the Dallas 15, where it was fair caught by Mickens.

It's cool to sound like and be a homer, you're on a Cowboys board. :D

I mean it surely is on some kind of moveable track -
I mean they have to change blubs when they go out -
I would like to have them move it up ten feet that be 100' off the ground -

plus that would help with people watching the game and not paying so much money to watch a BIG BIG screen tv

Funny thing is the myth buster tried to see if a helium football would fly higher and further and guess what it made no difference
