Costa gets extension, per Eatman...***2yr 2.7mil Post #61***

Do we have a link yet......I mean this could be a arm extension....which would be a good thing.

It's a 2 year deal, and his 2013 cap hit is less than it would have been if he were a RFA (1.3M). Perfectly acceptable contract.

That's what I was thinking they were trying to do in my earlier post. That makes sense.

I believe this is insurance in case who ever is drafted is not ready to play, I fully expect Dallas to bring a C/G.

Yes, in fact JJ said that is what they were going to do either via FA or the Draft.

Costa will have competition this year.

probably mack if they actually draft a guard or sign one...i imagine they draft one.

with our luck we are going to end up with leary-costa-mack starting across the middle with parnell at right tackle....

2 year deal it sounds like...reduces cap hit this year.

Hopefully, it's

Smith - Livings - Costa/Bern/Draft pick - FA pick up - Parnell

It's scary how bad we are at evaluating talent.

I'd literally take a cap hit just to get him off the roster.

It just doesn't make any sense. It is like Jerry and company just don't get it. This team isn't winning anytime soon.

Bernadeau should be your C/G backup.

Costa dominated Ngata.

If he can shake his injuries it's a good signing.

Costa can play! The kid was thrown in the lineup when Gurode was cut and he was young and green. He played much better last year when he wasn't hurt, it takes time to develop. He's gonna be good for us. He's tough and works hard.

this is a travesty,i have no hope the FO and the coaches will ever figure out the O-line.

He will be. Primarily a C backup. But Costa's going to be the starter. We'll bring in an OG and a vet T.

People freaking out know this deal averages about 1.30M a year and not 13.0, right?

At the worst he is a good backup at C who doesn't bring down the O if called to play. At the best he becomes a steady starter this year.

The important thing about this signing NOW is it gives the team flexibility going into the draft. There is nothing forcing us to sign a C.

i may be wrong on 1, but i am 100% correct on the other 1.

history will be on my side

It is interesting that we decide to extend our second injured former UDFA in Costa as we have already done it with Church.

Our two weakest position groups on the team get more money with questionable futures......guess they like to roll the dice.

You all never get tired of complaining?

at the worst he is a complete bust going on I/R season after season.

best case is he is a good backup who when called on to start doesn't get Romo killed while being above average zone blocking in the running game.

CHAM.......PION.......SHIP?.....:eek::

We'll see I guess. He looked good in his brief appearance last year, but the health of his back/overall performance the past two years/physical limitations make even the most optimistic fan unsure if this is a good thing. With two good guards around him, he might be ok. I'd rather have the guy on the roster as a back-up if anything. Hopefully, we'll draft/sign a couple of guys and have Costa compete for his job.

That last word should end in T!!!!!!! For that is what this team is...period!!!!
