It is a start with a lot of work ahead of them and some tough choices to make.

I still would rather have Costa back over Cook. That is, unless the Cowboys draft a guard who can compete for a starting job (either side) leaving Mackenzy Bernadeau as the emergency backup center.

Bernadeau i think is going to be the backup. And Dallas draft Martin at 16. Bernadeau can backup all 3 spots inside. Really like Harrison from Florida and his ability to back up all 3 interior spots too.

Martin is starting to grow on me. I would still prefer to see a defensive player (except CB) taken at #16 but the idea of a dominant o-line makes me giddy.

i think of it this way.

Romo will be a Cowboy 3 more yrs. so when the new QB takes over he could have a OL of

Tyron who will be 26 yrs old
Leary who will be 27 yrs old
Fredrick who will be 25
Martin who would be 26 yrs old

If Martin is taken 16 Dallas would have 4 spots locked as of this yr for the future OL. Im sure they will pick up that 5th guy at some point wether it be G or T. But just look at those 4 players and the age. You just have to feel good about that. Man Tyron is young 3 yr in the league and he just turned 23 in december

They were already under the cap due to a $1,280,693.00 carry over from last year. They were about 105,000.00 under.

Call me crazy but I think there are better guards in the draft than Martin. I think Martin is valued as a mid-first round pick because of his ability to play RT, but I don't think he will be able to be a legitimate RT. If we really wanted to draft OG in the 1st (which I don't really agree with but wouldn't be opposed to), I'd rather trade back to the end of the 1st and get Sua'Filo and pick up another 3rd rounder.

Reading that something was done with Bern's contract as well. Wonder if he took a paycut or we extended him and converted salary to bonus (he was scheduled to make 2.75mill). Extending him at a low cost wouldn't be terrible given that he's a good backup option at C-G (particularly with Costa gone).

Under the cap again. I bet John Mara just kicked his dog and called Eli to get a pep talk.

Good, but there's still a LONG way to go and one real way to get there.
