This brings to mind john gruden's comments following the downfall of the bucs right after their sb victory. "When you're getting to that point at first, everyone wants to be a part of it. After you've won it, everyone thinks they're the reason for it". (Paraphrasing) after their victory, everyone wanted to be the highest paid.
Charles Barkley made a similar statement after his Suns team made the finals. So I guess it's true in all team sports.

Maybe 35 if we win a SB. The FO is sold on him and going to pay him anyways so just give him the 30 now.

Whether any of you think he is worth it or whether you hate him or love him, or thinks we should trade him or cut him, it don’t matter. Obviously your free to give your opinion, it’s what we do here. But JJ and SJ is signing him as our franchise QB...

No QB should be making 10 mil a year IMO but hey supply and demand of the fans is big in the NFL
agree. At what point do the powers that be in the NFL say hold on..these QB salaries must be reigned in? I dunno..I am just posing a question I guess. Lets look ahead in 5 years and ask ourselves this, what if we see a player..ie a QB making 60-70 mil per? See what I mean? Looks pretty damn nuts to me. This is whats gonna happen if we don't see a line drawn in the sand as far as a vet cap...just like a rookie max contract cap...that's what is sorely needed.

We have rookie contracts for a reason...so now its time for a standardized vet contract.. Otherwise, the league will crumble eventually and cannot support...sustain itself. The fans can only foot the bill SO MUCH. At some point we the fans wont pay.

Honestly I would rather the players get the money than the owners and the NFL. It's just a lot of money just to play a game at all positions. IMO in comparison to the other major sports and the physical risk....in comparison NFL players are underpaid.

well then..if the salaries continue to spiral astronomically, the game will die on the vine. Its just a fact. Fans are the main income source for the players..not the owners. Its in the best longterm interest of all parties involved to get the money under control...much like the way they have done with rookie contracts.I like that and that makes good sense. Im a football purest and if the money dries up in a few years, we will all know why.

the NFL is unique in that we only have a very limited number of games and YES its a collision sport. That said, the fans cannot sustain these salaries into perpetuity. At some point soon...its gonna dry up for the NFL. For the sake and longevity of the sport itself, we need a system by which the vet has a pre-ordained salary based off of performance. Rookies have this...and its time for the vets to have the same.

Until the TV contracts decline I doubt it. Ticket prices are also on the rise.
And the NFL just teamed up with ca$ino$.

And if they get 2 more regular season games, that's more future money from TV/seats.

Cap goes up every year.....so the market goes up every year.

lets remember this fact...no one is forcing players to play the sport and risk their health. They can say no and choose another profession. Not to sound disconnected from the great risk they take...but in the end, its on the player. Fans pay their salaries and I'm telling you all..at some point the fan will say enough and will be priced out of the NFL. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Fans are already getting fed up with the greed by owners/players. I think the better route would be for the owners/league to take that money and install a better healthcare package. My understanding is most players have no medical at all...especially after they retire. That must change. Instead of giving these dudes a brinks truck full of cash...take that money and invest in a great healthcare system for all of them. That would be money well spent. THEN structure the vet contracts the way we have with rookie deals...NO MORE Brewsters Millions deals lol.

Tired of reading these threads, the money is stupid, it doesn't even matter anymore.
Nearly all starting QBs in the NFL are over payed, but that's just a fans opinion.
Pay Dak 40 mill per and suffer the consequences, and where did this 40 mill per come from, seems we were just arguing 28 per, took a nap and now its 40?
