Could Jarwin be top 3 in yards this season for a TE?

2020 TE stats

1. Kelce 1416 yards
2. Waller 1196 yards
3. Hockenson 723 yards
11. Schultz 615 yards

With everyone coming back from injuries this year, the cowboys offense should have lots of fire power. Before jarwin went out with injuries he was starting to be a real threat.

Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb have to be covered. Zeke is a threat that has to be accounted for. That should leave jarwin with less focus.

There are only so many balls to go around, and Kittle was out a lot of last year, but does anyone think Jarwin could be top of the league next year?

With a horrible offense, Schultz was 109 yards off from number 3 last year.

If Jarwin is healthy, I think he has a chance at 1000yards
With Dak slinging it most definitely.

Can't imagine he'll get the volume needed to do it. Just too many other receiving threats to get him there. Seems like it could only happen if Dallas forces the issue, and if that's the case they'll be doing themselves a disservice. I think he'll do well, but Top 3 is a bit of a stretch.

jarwin averaged 11.8 yards a catch in 2019. which if he had 89 targets that would be 1052 yards.

That was playing without lamb on the team. With lamb on the team, that is going to open up the middle of the field even more for Jarwin to make bigger plays, and take stuff to the house..

Shultz averaged 9.8 yards a catch in 2020 with lamb opening stuff up. He had more than double the reception jarwin did in 2019, so shultz's average is nice.

If Jarwin comes back and is healthy, and starts making plays, I think he is going 1k+
Do you understand how a small sample size pretty much never tells the story?

Hey, Felix Jones averaged 8.9 YPC his rookie year. So, that means he had around 2,500 yds rushing the next year, right?

I don't see Jarwin even being No. 1 among tight ends on the team. Schultz is a better all-around player, so he'll likely be out there more because of blocking. Jarwin is more of a receiving specialist.
Receiving specialist. Nice description, and I think it fits perfectly.

And Shultz may just get in his way on that quest

Schulz earned playing time, ranked 3rd last season in receptions for TE's. I'm not suggesting that he is elite, but capable enough to grab a share of the playing time.

TE's with big numbers can often result on a dependence relationship with that QB. I can tell you that Jay Novacek consistently got Aikman out of trouble, he was Troy's "emergency target". Romo and Witten were telepathic on the field.

I don't see that happening with the quality of WR's, the other emergency target, Zeke, and then Dak's ability to use his legs as the emergency escape plan.

Blake will be yet another real option among a wealth of options. We will see two or three 1000 yard receivers but a TE won't be among them.

Nah I don't think so. 500 yards and 5 TDs is my upside for him this year. Maybe it's a little higher if he gets the starting job.

I would tend to agree with you had Dal not drafted CeeDee last year. Due to the fore mentioned WRs, Jarwin will be limited, not to mention Schultz will be in the mix as well after proven he can be depended on last year.

Amari will get his 1k+; Gallup gets overlooked, yet continues wilth nearly 1k himself; CeeDee is just too dynamic not to scheme him the ball. So, Jarwin will naturally find creases within the defense to exploit.. Maybe he’s good enough talent wise, I just can’t see huge numbers.

Jarwin is gonna take advantage of opposing defenses so targeted and focused on Cooper- Lamb- Gallup, i think Blake will be playing vs so much zone and spaces with the Moore schemes and
how much mass danger these WRs pose for defenses ..on an every series, every passing attempt. Not only will these WRs get some wide open blown coverage easy big play catches vs confused, unsettled secondary, ..but Jarwin -Schultz will get their share of these kind of open big catches too.

... particularly Lamb and Jarwin in the deep middle seams.
If he comes back anything close to his previous playing form - Jarwin has the deep vertical speed, movement and run skills that Schulz does not have on Blake's level.
Although Schultz seems to be more durable and tougher than Blake.

NO WAY

with healthy kittle back and Philly TE back healthy, plus others like possibly pitts
ours TEs are ours 4/5th targets , it will be thought to do much better then Shultz did even with dak back because he will go to Lamb, AC, and Gallup more IMO.

With the way this passing offense seemed poised to be on pace to break all kind of NFL team and individual passing records to start the season until Dak's injury,

i would certainly Not bet again Jarwin being in the top 3 TE's in NFL statistically receiving wise in 2021, if he is fully healthy and returned to previous form, and that offense was anything like the 2020 and 2019 record pace.

i know it's a certain amount of touches to several playmakers but the way this offense does so spread the ball around, i couldn't totally rule it out.
It's not so much catches-receptions per game ... than it would be total yards in a full season. .

And we have 2 RBs that can catch the ball and will get targets as well.

And Cooper is what - the 2nd highest paid guy? And Zeke the third? They will catch their share of passes.

And Gallup and Lamb are only paid less because they are on rookie contracts. They will also catch their share of passes.

And Jarwin was paid before Schultz broke out last year and the team knew he could be a notable part of the passing game. Now that the Cowboys are aware they aren't going to bury Schultz on the bench, even if he isn't the "starter". He will still catch some passes.

You've conveniently left out all these details.

the key is fully healthy....he had a achilles tear, which is normally a 2 year recovery to get your suddenness and quickness back....

did he break out, or did he benefit from the other playmakers?

if Jarwin has some bounce back from his injury and with emergence of Schultz it should provide us with some options for different offensive formations. neither is a great blocker, but good enough perhaps in combination. neither is elite TE, but can't be ignored. some teams ignored schultz and he took advantage and burned them. so throwing in a few double TE sets, may create some mismatches, some opportunities and minimally force the opposing team have to prepare defensively. perhaps a 2WR, 2 TE set that either gives us 4 receivers or better run blocking....depending on how the defense decides to play us
