Could R Willams be our secret weapon?

Thomas Jones? It doesn't happen often, because early injuries often end careers, but it's not unheard of.

And Williams doesn't have confidence issues. You need to look into this player a bit more realistically.

Thomas Jones was drafted by the Cards in 2000, played in 30 games his first two seasons before his injury in his third season. He also wasn't injury plagued in college.

If there is a comparison out there to Williams, I'm not finding it. Even if there is, it's an exception and I'm not seeing a reason to think this guy will overcome the odds and produce for us. It would be a nice story though.

And when a player admits he was self-conscious after his knee injury and was scared to run with the ball or take on tackles and then has a mysterious knee injury in TC, I think injuries has got to his head completely. Maybe his confidence is back, but what happens if his knee flares up again? We are a playoff team, I don't want a guy like that having the ball in key moments in the game where players are playing harder and faster due to what is on the line.

Have a hard time calling a guy a secret weapon. I see a practice squad player who failed to crack the starting lineup last season and who is trying to make the 53 man roster this year. I wish him the best but he has much to prove like beating out Randle or Dunbar.

Do you have a link to him saying he was scared?

Ryan Williams isn't exactly a secret by now . . . I'm just hoping Synjyn Days IS one, though. (It could happen!)

As I expected you're referring to the time frame that was less than 1 year from the injury. That injury has a 15 to 18 month recovery time. They should have put him on the PUP to start that season.

Look, it just doesn't bode well for him. It also doesn't bode well that he had a knee flare up, a completely different knee, the following offseason and was expected back in a couple days but came to camp on crutches when the coaches thought he'd be ready. He was mentally damaged by injuries and fell out of favor with the Arizona coaching staff.

I'm not seeing anything that tells me this guy is a secret weapon or will even make the lineup. He didn't last year despite the claims that he had this strong showing in preseason against a bunch of backups. If he comes in and proves me wrong, great that will help our team, but as of now he's a practice squad guy that needs to crack the lineup. He hasn't cracked a team's lineup since 2012.

I don't care about your opinion. I just don't want to see you spreading a bunch of bogus information.

Bogus information? You asked for a link that said he was scared, I gave you the link.

Bogus information? Your claim is bogus. Sorry your pet cat has issues.

All players with knee injuries go though a time of over-thinking the injury when they return. Williams was pushed to return too soon so it was even worse for him.

Ryan Williams is the best pure runner on this team by a longshot

Then he need to go out and prove it, there were 3 RB on the active roster none of them named Williams. Potential is all well and good but it is time to step up or get out. I get the injuries but when has injuries been a free pass for anyone. For others on the team who have dealt with injuries they get labeled made of glass or fragile. I hope the best for Williams but he has to show it NOW

People that have watched football for long enough don't need stats to them who can play. They can tell a good player when they see it. Williams is a damn good runner. He jumps off the screen.

Ryan Williams injured his knee in preseason of 2011, he had a year to heal from his injury that is typically 4-6 months of recovery time. He was pushed? I'm sure the medical staff at Arizona gave him the okay to play, which was a year of healing time. If he was still having issues after a year, his knee is in far worse shape. The fact that he injured his shoulder, and then had a knee flare in the opposite knee that ended his time in Arizona is far more of a knock on him. Take all of that and then factor in his mental state and there is nothing to look forward to with him.

Yes and I think he will. I think he already started to do that last year. Jerry paid him more than usual to sit on the PS. I think they have a plan for him to help this team.

Right now he has a total of 164 yards since 2012. I'm not going to say he has no potential but potential means nothing if you can't crack the 53 man roster and actually do something. What any of these guys did in college is meaningless. Don't mean to sound cold hearted towards him but it is hard to jump on the coat tails of a player who has been in the NFL this long and nothing to show for it.

Out of all our current RBs, I want Ryan Williams to pan out the most. I think a lot of us saw a glimpse of what kind of RB we are getting with him last season. A quick but smash mouth kind of RB that will make sure he drags or bull doze for extra yards.

In saying that, he still needs to prove he can stay healthy and I do not want us going into the season with just Williams and Randle. Or just Randle and Mcfadden. The reason I say that is because when one goes down, I'm not sure I can just trust the next RB up + Dunbar. This leads me to believe that Dunbar would be the odd man out. That experiment seems like a far gone conclusion for a dynamic RB Ala Reggie Bush. I would rather have 3 capable starters that way if one doesn't pan out, we still have two that can share the load through out the game rather than relying on the backup to be our Demarco Murray + a Dunbar.

Sounds like you're talking about things you can't possibly know enough about. His mental state? Come on. The guys idol is Walter Payton. He runs like him too. He's not timid with the ball in his hands. The coaching staff knows more about his mental state than any of us. He's the best pure runner on this team imo there's a lot to look forward to with him. I don't care what happened in Arizona and idk why anyone else would either. Don't need stats to tell me this kid can play. It's evident when you watch him run.

Frankly I'm more concerned about guys like Randle, Dunbar and Williams ability to pick up a blitz, I don't want to see Romo getting pounded because a RB can't figure out who to pick up or is shying away from doing his job. Running is one aspect of the position but helping ensure the QB stays up right it major. There are many plays were the RB must step up and take on the LB or safety who is coming free. People focus on one aspect yet there is a lot that goes into that position
