Could there be hold outs this off season?

Because he plays a position where injury risks are high and his market value will probably never be higher due to his age and production last season. He is risking tens of millions of dollars by not getting a deal done.
To add to this he's played 70 games in the NFL so far. The fifth year option is more hey we really need that extra year to see what we have in you either because of inconsistent play or injuries.

Someone who's played 70 games and is coming off of first team all pro season is not going to play on what is essentially a single year prove it deal.

The difference is that: Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers can evaluate and acknowledge a team can only 'afford' a certain number of elite contracts (and they better be able to play up to that contract).
Yep, sometimes you need to subtract, to add in other areas, but from that to happen you need to be able to evaluate on football (not financial) grounds. It's so maddening as it's coming from the franchise that traded Herschel.
This draft is one of the deepest WR drafts in a long time, it would be smart to kick the tires and see what they could get for CD.

Especially if GM Jethro is considering moving on from Dak.

No way is Dak holding out. If he’s not extended he becomes a free agent. The longer this goes the more pressure it puts on the Cowboys. Jerry always says deadlines make deals but if they reach a deadline with Dak, he becomes a FA and is likely gone.
Can you imagine Dak with a 1st place schedule that in includes the AFC North with lesser talent?
Can you say....................

GM Jethro loves his comp picks.

Emmitt held out and we went 0-2. Then Jerry caved after Michael Irvin went crazy.
That team was actually 0-4 without Emmitt, and 15-0 with him. He was injured the Sunday before TG in Atlanta on his first carry, and missed the Leon Lett game.

Haley was the guy who lost it after game two. Put his helmet through the sheet rock and told Jerry to his face to cut him and give his money to Emmitt.

He signed that week.

Apparently Cowboy Roy is no longer around but he once made a comment that Aikman didn’t win a single NFL game without Emmitt. I didn’t think that was correct, so I looked into it. Sure enough, Troy Aikman does not have a single NFL win that Emmitt Smith didn’t play in. Wow.

Comp picks are not a bad thing, but you’ve gotta stop taking dudes like Nashon Wright and Matt Waletzko….ya know, guys that can’t play.
Losing a top 10 QB for a late 3rd comp pick, is an embarrassing look for a GM.

All he would be getting is a 3rd rounder for his starting QB. Don’t think he would like that.
It would be embarrassing to lose a top 10 QB for basically a 4th round pick. However, half our fans seem to be on board with it and we don't even have a legit replacement in place.

Of course, but we know that situation goes much deeper than wanting the comp pick.

It’s about either wanting to move on and/or not pay him. I doubt the compensation is much of a factor….in this case.

Most Cowboys fans would be on board with dumping Dak for nothing.

Again, if they back load the contract.
That's not the question I answered, nor is it the question you asked. You asked if we needed to open up more space to sign Lamb. The answer is no. Obviously Lamb would cost more in later years, but we don't have to open up any space now.

Embarrassing is to extend this sooooooooooooooooooooooo called Stat-Bandito QB after his non-performance against playoff teams.
How many times does he have to play the Niners to finally beat them?
You know as the leader of team and all that Jazz???????????????

Niners clearly have a better team and it is not even close.

If there were ever to be a season whereby holdouts would be possible, this one could be highly suspect in that category. Jerry and Stephen Jones are playing with fire by thinking they can play hardball with the entire team and come out of it like they knew just what they were doing. Players have a way of showing their unwilling to be treated like little kids about to be spanked. It should prove interesting to note how they choose to react to it.

Funny thing is you thought we had a SB team last year.

You're that fan, that tells everyone that this is the year. Then is all emotional and can't think rationally.

The nfl fine for those on their 5th year option is now $50k a day (camp). NFL teams can no longer waive the fines after the signed deal so a player and his agent would be dumb to try.

Follow the Martin approach. Go to camp, avoid the fines. Hold out a week before the season starts. Get PAID.

Martin, Zeke, and Smith have something Dak will never acquire.................. Talent.
Yes, you need that when you decide to Hold out.
Laugh as Dak will NEVER hold out...........Ever!!!
