I call BS.....cause his name is Mark Aguirre. Not Mcguire.....if you are a fan, then you know the names.....spelling can be forgiven....I have been a lifelong Spurs fan and I always have to double take when I type Elliott.

BTW, Aguirre was traded away to the Bad Boys for Adrian Dantley....a move that upset me, cause I liked Dantley a lot. I was still happy to see the Bad Boys win back to back titles though, since they were my second favorite team.

I hated the Mavs, but I will stand by the statement I told my brother that the 80s Mavs would beat the Championship Mavs. Blackmon, Harper, Aguirre, Donaldson, Davis, etc.....were very good. The only reason they never did anything is because of the Showtime Lakers dominating the 80s with 8 Finals appearances. The old Mavs team would thrive under the new NBA rules, just like the new Mavs team has, at least record-wise. The old Mavs team would own in the 80s rules, as the new Mavs are a bunch of cry baby sissies, especially Dirk and Terry. You can't breathe on either without them flailing to the ground to try and get a whistle. In the 80s rules, the new Mavs would not be consistently bailed out by bogus, phantom whistles.

They usually like the Yankees too. Just rooting for the 3 most popular teams in their sports? So weak.

Ok so you live in Pennsylvania yet you root for two teams out of state (Mavs & Cowboys) yet I can't root for one team out of state the Lakers. Yeah great logic there buddy.

I have no allegiance to either team I root for the Texas teams in the playoffs because I don't care much about the NBA. But a Spurs fan complaining about guys flopping is rather comical. Ginobili might be the king of flops and Duncan is no slouch out flopping either.

yes i am calling the current Mavs a bunch of floppers. laugh all you want, but Ginobili is the only flopper we have, and he doesn't do it half as much as he used to. We did have Horry and Doc Rivers though, and they were grand floppers.

Still, you miss the point of my post. Typical of overly emotional fans.

I was comparing the current Mavs team to the 80s Mavs. The 80s Mavs were not a bunch of floppers, well except maybe Harper....but Harper really honed his flopping with the Knicks. The current Mavs team, especially Dirk and Terry are huge floppers. To be honest, most of today's players are huge floppers, cause the league has allowed the players to get away with it. Basketball has turned into Hand Soccer.

As a fan of the NBA since I can remember, it annoys me to see so many sissy fouls being called over this past decade. I hate that defensive players can't play defense without being called for a foul. I hate that a defensive player can't even hold his spot and vertical position, without being called for a foul when the offensive player initiates all the contact.

So, back to my point. The 80s non-flopping, tough Mavs would beat the Championship free-flopping, whiny Mavs.

i think unless you are from LA and you saw the cowboys practice in Oxnard as a child, its pretty ridiculous that people are lakers and cowboys fans. yes, they can pick a team and then stick with it, but if you are just picking a good team you are still jumping on a bandwagon, even if you stay on it, you still did it. You should root for your hometown teams, teams near by, or at least teams that your parents or family members cheer for. if your parents were bandwagon jumpers and you have always cheered for the boys and lakers, thats one thing, but if you decided in the early eighties or early nineties "gee, i want to get into basketball and football, i think ill go with the cowboys and lakers! even though i live in cleveland or atlanta" then you are a bandwagon jumper, no matter how long you stay on it.

i know this form experience, my cousin is from LA (rancho cucamonga) yet he is somehow a yankees, patriots and heat fan? ya, that makes sense

you must not have lived through the 80's because the Yankees and Cowboys were down right awful. In fact it took the Yankees 14 years before they won a World Series, so I don't think you can call a fan a front runner. They went back to their minor league farm system and their home grown talent to establish their late 90's World Series Championships. I am a Yankees and Cowboys fan just because of where I grew up, they were mostly on TV or the radio. I don't think I am a front runner because if I was, then can anyone explain to me why my Sixers (NBA team) hasn't won a championship since 1982. Love the Sixers becasue of Dr.J but they always seemed to loose to the Celtics and Bird who would make a incredible shot in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Championship. I stick with my team no matter how bad they are.

Haha, I'm not overly emotional. The NBA could not exist and I wouldn't care a bit. And the other guy is a Lakers fan. But everyone flops in the NBA, it is quite sad, and yes the Spurs are known for it. I have no interest in today's NBA players, they seem to be all about themselves, last year's Mavs team didn't seem that way so I went for them. I also pulled for the Spurs until they were knocked out. Like I said I go for the Texas teams.

And as for the Mavs comparison I have no idea.

I never said that. I just said I notice a lot of fans that root for all the "popular" teams.
