Personally, I'd just as soon move on from Claiborne. I had high hopes for him this past season but once again, he was on the shelf for most of the season. He will be very expensive to resign and while I think he is starting to figure it out a bit, he's just not worth the money if he's always going to be injured. He may end up being good for somebody but I have no faith that it will ever be us.

I think the assumption is he will be expensive we really do not know so. Let see what the Cowboys may offer and if he can get more else where the see ya but I would at least put in an offer.

Re-sgning them is filling a hole. Their contract takes up cap room just like a new player's would.

Someone better. Someone more durable than Claiborne. Someone who's not the liability in coverage that Church is. Someone who makes more plays on the ball than Carr.

This isn't high school or college where it is basically necessary to bring guys back who know the system. The NFL is a fulltime job, with meetings, training camps, OTA's, etc. Anyone new coming into the fold will have ample time to learn the defense.

Church quarterbacks the secondary and always is a team leader in tackles. Gotten much better in coverage. Re-sign him.

Claiborne should be really cheap, so sign him if so. If the numbers climb, say goodbye.

Wilcox only for cheap, too.

Williams only if the number is low. I expect he follows Romo (along with Leary) to another team.

We don't have a single irreplaceable UFA. Let them walk or re-sign them for cheap.

Neither TWill nor Brice are the speedsters we need. Get a small, super fast WR in the lower rounds. Doesn't matter if he can't run routes ... he'll have ONE route ... DEEP Post.

There's a lot to do in the off season, lot's to sign, no matter what, those positions have to be filled, I say add two new secondary parts, one linebacker, 2 high grade defensive linemen, 2 dynamic receivers, that's it. Means we have 7 new parts to the team and 7 can go.

They really aren't bad players and have chemistry with Dak. If they aren't shelling out $$ I don't see the issue.

any thought here on a FA like WR Brandon Marshall? I know he's had his issues (nothing huge that I'm aware of) in the past but he seems to be solid now from a character perspective. He does have a way to make plays and find ways to get open

They like T-Will because he blocks and runs well. Good team guy. I'm not really nutty about him and while I understand WR blocking is important for this offense, I'd like to see somebody else scare D-Coordinators deep than Dez.

Butler is a good re-sign for the right price. Again, they like his work ethic and attitude. I like his deep speed more than T-Will, but his technique and catch radius are iffy.

I wouldn't have a problem re-signing Mo to a solid deal that doesn't have a lot of years on it. We need more O-Scan and Anthony Brown types in this scheme, but we don't have the bodies, have other areas that need to be addressed...so re-signing Mo and Carr is pretty much something we will likely do for the right price.

I wouldn't mind seeing Byron and Heath in the same defensive backfield. Church isn't bad, but he's extremely limited and we don't have Earl Thomas on this team to make up for his limitations that a good team with a good offense wouldn't take advantage of.

I mean I understand part of the premise. Other than Claiborne, none of these guys will likely get big deals and price themselves out. And at the very least, they were competent players. Maybe not great, but competent.

But on the other hand, it's clear the secondary was just not good enough despite the drivel from Pro Football Focus. I just can't justify bringing back the entire secondary and say it will be much better because now Heath is a factor, Brown will be better and we'll throw a draft pick or two at it.

I think it's time to shake things up. One of Claiborne or Carr. One of Church or Wilcox (likely Wilcox who will be cheaper).

Bring in some new blood in FA. And it doesn't have to be a splash like a Trumaine Johnson or even Bouye or an Eric Berry at S. That would be nice but even mid-level guys to change up the mix would be nice. As I have suggested, Tony Jefferson at S.

Cant believe fans are ok with status quo in the secondary. These guys let us down year after year, yet some are content with them coming back. Insane

If nothing else a WR needs to catch the ball, too often that doesnt happen with him. Give me a less gifted guy that catches it MOST of the time. Reminds me of what a wise old draft analyst used to say "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane".

They are cheap resigns. You almost have to sign them because there is only so much salary cap available and so many draft picks. If the Cowboys let everyone walk they would need 15 draft picks to fill all the roster spots.

You can't replace: WRs Terrance Williams and Brice Butler, and free agent DBs (Carr, Claiborne, Church, Wilcox) and still upgrade the front 7, ROT, TE ect.

The secondary was decent. The pass rush is the problem.

I'd bring back Carr and Church for sure.

If you don't, then what? You don't get 17 draft picks in the first 4 rounds.

Personally I'd like to move on from most of that list.

I think they are good solid players that i'd like to see brought back.


We just need to surround them with guys that are more talented than they are and not have them as our most talented options.

We need a bigtime corner, a couple of bigtime D Linemen and Jaylon Smith to be the player we think he can be.


Offensively, I don't think another bigtime WR really makes a difference because we won't focus on getting them the ball anyways. T. Will is perfect for a team that likes to take what the defense gives.

Where I think we could add the most to our offense is Right Tackle and Tight End.

signing all 4 of them takes up a decent chunk of cap room. The 4 of them combined accounted for $19,472,017 in cap space last year.

Why not use that same cap room for 2 really good players..aka improvements..and give Anthony Brown and another young player, possibly a draft choice, the reps?

Get better. We have to improve in the secondary or we will suffer a similar fate.
