Cowboy FAs Stephen Jones wants re-sign

the bummer is they have to sign guys before the draft !! That makes it hard, as you dont know what you will wind up with in the draft,
because they dont draft need, they go bpa.
So I think most guys that are cheap enough will be resigned.
I dont know if I would keep carr, and I would not keep TW. and butler is like TW, sometimes good, sometimes really bad.

Church and Wilcox, Carr, Claiborne, Butler and Williams.

Thanks. Need to keep at least one S and CB. I'd keep Butler. I like the way he runs and catches the balll Not as polished as Williams but bigger upside. Need to sign or draft a S. Draft 1-2 CBs and bring in a boatload of UDFA DBs as well as sign a vet DB if feasible. I'd sign someone like Garcon. We don't need Whitehead although I like the player. He's not dynamic enough on returns to keep. I'd use his roster spot for a vet or a draft pick if high enough.

Little to no guarantees fixes signing players. Sign and release as necessary.

Out of that group give me Church, Wilcox, Carr, and Twill. I've been hard on Carr in the past but he stays healthy, you can depend on him. Church and Wilcox with the idea we'll try to find their replacements this year in the mid draft rounds. So not too long of contracts for those two. Twill just cuz we can probably afford him and he knows Dak and the system. I can live without Butler and I really like Mo but he can't stay healthy and it's like another Anthony Spencer type situation. After a while the guy with a lot of talent doesn't help you when he's always injured.

Mo Claiborne...........2m base 250k a game
Eric Berry- SS.............Church and/or Wilcox as fall back
Cordarelle Patterson- WR4/KR .....no TWill or Butler.........go with AJones and CBrown and a Draft pick

McFadden vet minimum
TMcClain 2/3m
JCooper if Leary leaves
Sanchez or KMoore vet minimum

Big Money on a DE
Mid money on a CB

I like it but there isn't a DE really worth big money is there?

Butler is barely hanging on as an NFL player. lol Williams getting Marvin Jones money is cute as well. Church can't keep leaning on his leadership. At what point will his game disappear? Wilcox should be a no brainer to return or get an outside FA. It's no debate btw Chuck and JJ to me. Mo should be brought back cheap and start next to brown. Draft a guy first 4 rounds for Mos eventual injury. Carr should retire and keep doing his charity work (not a diss).

The team probably needs to bring back 1 player from each of those position groups. You can only fill so many holes in one off season, particularly if you aren't an active team in FA.

Last year
Sanu signed for 5 years 32.5 million
M. Jones signed for 5 years 40 million

Williams more closely resembles Jones stats before he hit FA. I think you can reasonably project Williams to be somewhere between the 2 of those or slightly higher so the agent and player can say they won.

He would have to be around what Sanu got for him to even have a chance at being back here imo. He's the one on that list who has the lowest probability of returning.

Those other guys probably have a decent shot at being back if the Cowboys want them. Nobody is going to be kicking their door in with big contracts due to the limitations each has.
Nice analysis.
My opinion. T Will has shown me nothing that makes me want to see 5 more years of it.
He is a guy that you should be able to replace with a 3rd round draft pick. I believe you pay for future production and if his next 5 years match his last then no thank you.

Pretty harsh analysis on Secondary players who play in a system where they have never had pass rushing support. For years now we have been a team that is near the bottom in pass rush and most sacks we get come as coverage sacks.

That about sizes it up. Williams is a good 2nd receiver and Carr is nothing special but if he is cut he must be replaced!! Not so easy! Mo would be OK on the cheap and only as a rotational player. Not reliable. Hope they find a way to resign Leary. Solid guy. If the FO wants a high level DE...They must trade for one.

Only bring back MO for a cheap backup contract.

No need to resign butler

Sign Carr though won't find a better cb for 5 mil

Twill if he's cheap

Don't agree regarding CBs
We need physical CBs who can tackle and play zone
Neither of these 2 are that
Definitely move on from Carr
Mo only on a incentive laden deal

It was really only harsh to Church. Carr is the homie and has more important things to do than football. Mo is fine for another one year rental and JJ I wouldn't mind being the new starter

That's a good core of guys to contain. If anything we do need to keep a corner, a safety, and I guess a WR.

I was thinking maybe one safety can go since you got Heath and Frazier. Heath show more in one game than our whole secondary. At the lease Heath make qbs pay for throwing erratic deep balls.
