He made plays in like two games.

I'd rather draft or sign a legit free agent to play opposite of Jones. Heath is what he is. Special teams and a good 6th DB.

They are cheap resigns. You almost have to sign them because there is only so much salary cap available and so many draft picks. If the Cowboys let everyone walk they would need 15 draft picks to fill all the roster spots.

You can't replace: WRs Terrance Williams and Brice Butler, and free agent DBs (Carr, Claiborne, Church, Wilcox) and still upgrade the front 7, ROT, TE ect.

You also don't have to resign every stinking one of them either though.

The secondary was decent. The pass rush is the problem.

I'd bring back Carr and Church for sure.

If you don't, then what? You don't get 17 draft picks in the first 4 rounds.

I already said what I would do. Bring back one of Carr or Claiborne. I'd bring back Wilcox as I suspect Church will cost more. I look to upgrade the S position with someone like Tony Jefferson. He's a younger, better version of Church. His price tag shouldn't be outrageous. I might look for a cheap CB, maybe an older, veteran type on a cheap deal that can play competently. Brown showed enough to give him a step up in responsibilities. And you still have Scandrick. So I don't need both Carr and Claiborne back.

Then I use a pick or two in the draft.

The secondary was barely decent. I want to upgrade both.

My offseason defensive plan assuming we won't spend big on guys like Berry and Poe (which, yes, I would like to do but don't expect it):

1) Church or Wilcox, likely Wilcox
2) Carr or Claiborne, preferably Claiborne
3) Resign McClain

In FA

1) Addison or Sheard at DE
2) Jefferson at S, maybe McDougald
3) Vet CB maybe someone like Marcus Cooper or yeah, even Terrance Newman.

Not a depth chart but just simply a list of names on the defensive roster after my moves:

DEs - Irving, Tapper, Lawrence, Mayowa, Addison/Sheard, Draft pick
DTs - McClain, Thornton, Crawford, Collins, Draft pick
LB - Lee, Smith, Wilson, Hitchens, Gachkar, Nzeocha and possibly a draft pick
S - Jones, Jefferson, Wilcox, Heath, Frazier
CB - Claiborne, Scandrick, Brown, FA, draft pick

I think that's a much better and more talented D than the previous one, at all levels of the defense.

Good to see Williams is a priority. Best all around receiver on the team. I would move him back to the second option.

They're below average

They're average, Mo was having a pretty solid season but continues to miss games with injuries. He holds a lot and plays not to get beat. All those players Jones named are JAGS. Twill had the worst season of his career statistically. He needs to be replaced with a stretch the field speed receiver like DJack or Mike Wallace. We have to become more explosive offensively and create more big plays down the field.

That is the big problem..........he will get 5m+ and that should be too high for us
