Signed by Cowboys Cowboy sign Leighton Vander-Esch to 1-yr deal

Maybe Micah can train him like Apollo did for Balboa in Rocky III.

WHAT? All that talk last season no extension & now this? Second mistake. First one was giving Dlaw even more $$ for less performance. Hot Boyz at their finest.

I mean, I would love Bobby Wagner. Who wouldn't? But it never was going to happen.

He knows Dan, he knows the scheme. We've essentially lost Gregory and Kearse. Gregory will be hard to replace and Kearse can be replaced.

I agree with you outside of Gregory. Gregory had a 4-5 game stretch where I would say he would be hard to replace but the rest not so much.

LOL let’s bring back everyone that just got ran over in the playoffs!
His best game of the season was that 49ers game because they were a running team. Against spread offenses and pass happy teams, he’s a bit out of place.

What did he do exactly when he had no tackles for loss and they averaged 4.4 yards a carry. Some by a WR? 5 solo tackles? How could a defensive unit look like absolute garbage yet Vander Esch had a great day?

No, he didn’t.

For the most part, he made tackles downfield ala Jaylon Smith. He was hesitant to fill holes and had no explosion.

You want your backers meeting the ball carrier in the hole, not waiting on the other side of it.

Some of you have absolutely no idea what good backer play looks like.

Good bridge signing that doesn't prevent the team from drafting a future starter. He had his struggles when the DL was hurt, but played real well down the stretch. He still will most likely handle that 2 down role, but he can play all the spots if injuries occur.
He has not played well since his rookie season

I'm not too upset with this. He did seem to play a little better towards the end of the season. I hope Micah's work ethic can rub off on LVE.

I wasn’t aware that LVE had work ethic issues but I’m still concerned with his health and ability to stay and be effective on the field

The fact that he signed this deal tells you what the rest of the league thinks of him.

Sorry, bro.
Our bad players always come back or try not to leave. Ty craw, jeff heath, orlando scandrick, barry church, even byron jones who will be cut next year when his contract allows. He has the worst contract on the dolphins

Guess I didn't word it correctly. I remember on one of the "sounds of the sidelines" videos, LVE was telling Micah he was doing too much, or something like that. Maybe I misread the situation.

I wasn’t sure. Nothing surprises me any more with this team

But hey, Vander Esch for 3 million, yee haw. Who can argue with that?
Good point. Within its own box, the above looks fine, but there's also no upgrade.

I feel the same about trying to get a run game fixed while insisting on playing our 11m TE who is a whiff machine at run blocking.

common sense and facts are not pom pom waving but glad im still in your head you follow me around and post..i pown ya bro..
Nah. It’s just funny you think that the cowboys getting worse and every other team getting better is no big deal. Tell me. How do you like Armstrong as the new starting RE? Lol

Well said let’s hope. He always seemed hungry just not a super physical player. Not to long ago he was very heralded LB. NFL is brutal.

It's a quote that appears to be taken out of context. LVE was trying to tell Parsons that you can't just charge in and try to make every play. Parsons wanted to be always on the attack, and LVE was telling him you can't do that ... because you've got certain assignments you have to make sure are covered. I don't think that was something Parsons didn't already know, but it looked like a good-natured chide by the veteran. We're bad about assuming the worst.
