Obviously. He can't move his foot right now. That is what I stated as a fact. A tingle is not the same thing as moving it. Far from it, in fact. By all accounts, we are months from it.

I understand where you are coming from because until he lifts his foot there is no certainty. OTOH, by all accounts this is to be expected with a full recovery; he has already recovered the nerve partially. If I start hearing about scar tissue forming then I will worry.

I doubt we will hear anything negative. I don't have an agenda here. The only thing I have stated is that he can't lift his foot, despite being able to press 700 lbs or squat 500. Posting a picture of him planking like @Hostile did doesn't really go a long way towards telling us where he is at. He seems to be recovering nicely, but until the nerve is fully firing and he is able to lift his foot, I won't get too excited.

The videos he posted wearing an AFO are merely propaganda pieces. There are some team doctors that looked at him and decided he wasn't worth drafting at all. Obviously, Dr. Cooper has more information and a better idea of what is going on, but they certainly have more information and knowledge than you on this subject. The fact that they don't share the same optimism should be at least a little concerning.

lol. Hmmmm...the team doctor's word or yours. Tough choice.
This fan must have talked to Bryan Broaddus because he was adamant that Smith will never play football again just a few days ago on the the Lunch Break.

Aye but those other "things" are the macrophages, Schwann cells, etc that I pointed to in another thread that need to keep the scar tissue at bay which allows a greater chance of the peroneal nerve to fire.

Tingling is a great sign and he seems to be ahead of schedule yet it does not mean that he is in the free and clear.

Schwann cells produce the myelin. Without the myelin the charge bleeds out and no signal can be sent. IOW, sensation implies myelin which in turn implies Schwann cells.

I'm not sure about the propagation of white blood cells, macrophages, but that is why the sheath being intact is so important: blood flow is maintained. It's when the body cannot deliver blood that it really becomes an issue.

Appealing to authority is great and all and if you want to rest your hat on 'other teams doctors' and ambiguous prognosis then fine. I cannot really argue that.

Axonotmesis is what it is. The nerve sheath is either damaged or it's not.

Broaddus is butthurt because they passed on Jack.
Exactly he was steaming that Jack wasn't taken at 34 who is just as much a gamble for Jacksonville as Smith is for Dallas and now I know why he's no longer a scout for a team.

Nerve damage isn't as black and white as you make it sound. Let's step back a minute and just apply some basic logic. Why wasn't he projected to go higher if this is essentially a non-issue? You seem to be writing this off like it's a hamstring pull or something.

Yes and the Schwann cells will continue to do their part as long as the phages and others do theirs. If scar tissue grows at even a slightly faster rate then its removal then we have a problem :(

This is a complex process and any hiccup can stall the chain.

You can go to the Cowboys official website and listen for yourself? I can't help you any more.

Listen to what? I've read the articles and come away with a different take. As I pointed out the nerve didn't wait until the draft to start regening.

You don't even argue points or on merit. Can we get some more megalomania?

How is what I said black and white? If you want to fearmonger the unknown then fine but peripheral nerves regenerate automatically and barring blood flow issues or scar tissue it will reach the distal region. If I hear about scar tissue then I will worry.

It wasn't a severe nerve injury and we know this because as Dr' Cooper relayed to us the nerve casing was intact and it was not elongated. It is what it is.

Good thing its already at least halfway through then. That's why I'm so bully on this: he started regaining sensation 3 months ago. MRI can show nerve scarring too.

Also I would point out that some scarring doesn't preclude a full recovery not that we have any reports of scar formation.

How do you know he wasn't worth drafting at all? We took him after only 33 other players were taken.

True, there will for sure be some scarring. Just hope it is unobstructed and held to a minimum.
