The thought of giving OBJ big money and him not being what he used to be terrifies me. We already have 1 overpaid WR that is a #3 at best…If we’re gonna splash I’d much rather it be more of a safer bet like Cooks / Juedy.
Wonder if any other good WRs might be available via trade?
I’m also not giving up on Tolbert. He was a very good prospect and sometimes it just takes a little time. He was also given like zero opportunity.
Physically i agree it is a complete gamble upon OBJ, coming str8 off ACL injury.. i still cannot believe the mad, thrown dart in the dark flirtation with him - (with no workout) ..
and unlike Gallup, Beck did not even play in '22 to try work back into play mode.
So he will still need to prove he is capable of regaining is previous form.
That's one of the reasons why i'd propose an incentive laden, clause contract with him, .but he may be in that Gregory camp mode of the "
da heck with that,.. next bidders please. "
- Cooks has never been All pro, Pro Bowl WR, but still has the reputation as one of the premiere speed WRs in the NFL,.
But he's been thru several teams too. His enormous contract would pose a big problem with both trading partners.
and Texans would be subject to an enormous cap hit as well.
- During their draft class, supposedly the only WR the Cowboys had on their value board that was higher than CeeDee Lamb was Jerry Jeudy. ...
- I won't say give up Jalen Tolbert either ... but i certainly am not bypassing WR this offseason, for the sake of Tolbert either.
If he vastly improves and shows progress., he becomes a luxury pick and terrific quality depth.
- Ditto with Gallup, and not bypassing WR for the sake of Gally " hopefully" recovered and regaining previous form. At the least, we'd hold onto him
until we can exercise that opt-out to lessen the blow of a cap casualty, if he does not
