Turpin too fast to play wide receiver for the Cowboy?
He's too soft ,.. and he does Not play bigger than his actual size.

The only way he will score on a run back return ..is he will have to be totally Untouched on the pathway... someone is always tripping him up with just one finger
or a shoelace

I would pass on OBJ. He will want too much money for what he has left. Dez Bryant II.

Fans complain about the Jones family, and then they produce lists like this. Go figure.

His estimated contract is 11 million a season, that's Gallup type of money. Would you rather trade for Cooks and his 18 million salary and give up a draft pick too?

CeeDee
OBJ
Gallup
Jalen Tolbert
Draft Pick

I think Tolbert still has a chance to become as good a pre-injury Gallup.

Gallup should be better in 2023; although, I don't know how much better.

A savvy veteran like OBJ (if healthy) is exactly what they needed in 2022.

ModEdit: Thread title changed from "Cowboys 2024 WRs" to "Cowboys 2023 WRs" at poster's request.

Actually agree with most of this. The FO unfairly put pressure on Gallup returning and being depended on too early.

To bank on a guy coming off an ACL late in the previous season is just mind numbing, but that’s what this franchise does. That said, a think added time to rehab and distance from the injury we’ll see improvement from Gallup.

I’m holding out hope for Tolbert in year two if for no other reason I was a big fan of his at South Alabama. Really thought he was one of the most “pro ready” receivers coming out last year. Obviously, that was a misread; can’t tell what’s going on between the ears, so hopefully the extra off-season to learn/prepare will benefit him.

The Cowboys need to break away from their preferred prototype of 6’-1”/6’-2”ish linear receivers and just draft talent. If a guy like Zay Flowera is on the board we should consider him.

I think they also asked too much of him, they wanted him to learn all 3 receiver positions, rather then making it easy for him to learn just 1 as a rookie. Wco should be far easier to pick up, all those option routes will be long gone.

Yes, it seems odd that they had him learning all of the WR positions.

In general I think they need more focus on execution which requires repeating the same plays/routes in practice over and over.

I went to training camp starting in 1992 and that's how they did it.

I think it was 95 when I watched Aikman tell WR Kevin Williams to keep running the same route until he did it correctly. I could hear Aikman screaming at him "You made your break a yard early". KW must have repeated that route 12 or 15 times before Aikman was somewhat satisfied.

Aikman was probably doing him a favor because it kept Jimmy from yelling at him...he played...

We hear it all the time, want a rookie to concentrate on one position, don't want to overload his thought process. Want him to play fast and not be thinking too much. A few years ago, the receiver position was one of the steepest learning curves from the college level, but not many college teams are running similar offenses. Him coming from a small school, I bet his route tree was very basic. Many thought he was a quality prospect when he was drafted, we need to give him some time for development. Asking him to become the team's #4 receiver is a legitimate expectation for next season.

Lol yea, let's sign obj. A wr who has torn his ACL in two of the last 3 seasons. Any other injured players we can sign?
Yes, me. After one hit I would be out and sitting on the bench but I could probably retire after the season.

I was listening to fox sports today, and they said that the Chargers can't afford to keep Keenan Allen, due to bad cap mgmt. He's 30 y/o, but has size and I believe would be terrific opposite of CeeDee, and put Gallup in the slot.

Wow, this kid looks like a baby. It would be interesting if the NFL gave him a chance on the program Alarcon was brought in.

I should note that he's 6'0 as I misread Google, but he's still got game. I like what I see from him. I'd like to see how he does in Alarcon's program.

We need speed. "I think " If Dak is inaccurate and hesitant, it won't matter.
How much?

What was his injury issue in 2022?
