Cowboys answer at FS is none other than: Kevin Kaesviharn

FS is the last line of the Defense. Its his job to make sure that no long TDs are made. KK has shown the ability to do this; Watkins has not. Watkins is young and probably will improve a lot- BUT what if he doesn't?

That is a very tough call for sure. I think that if youi get enough of a pass rush, which we obviously haven't done in the past few years, you can have less that GREAT safeties and not be hurt. Hopefully, Wade will bring the heat on D so the boys don't have to cover for a half hour back there.

Nothing against Crazy Cowboy, but if he spotted Kaesviharn, I have a feeling Jerry could manage, as well.

..not sure that was very nice..?

:(

..and if you're that sharp about what you think Crazy Cowboy and Jerrah can muster brainwise..does that mean you are the superior knowlogist of the 3..?

Curious I am.

I understand, but why do we have to keep making the same mistake over and over at that spot? let watkins play the spot all year with the starters.

He is only going to improve, we thought enough of him to draft him so why not let him continue to play.

It just seems like real bad business for them to pay another veteran free safety, just like right guard, if you pay another one and it doesnt work then what? Draft one the following year....

so why not draft a right guard this year and play watkins.

Kevin Kaesviharn- Cincinnati Bengals- FS: As a versatile safety with solid overall skills, Kevin emerged as one of the team's leading playmakers in 2006. He led the team with six interceptions and his four QB sacks were indicative of his versatility. He will fly under the radar early in free agency, but look for him to land with a team looking for a dependable player later on.

I think he'll be a great addition

I guess it comes down to what the staff thinks of Watkins.

I think (if) this signing would have nothing to do with Watkin's abilities (atleast not yet).

He's going into his 2nd year. If we're loooking at starting caliber FS next season, I'll start doubting Watkin's upside.

I think Kevin will fill in the role Parcell's had expect from Tony Parrish.

The secondary needs a seasoned veteran with strong leadership abilities. I think Kevin Kaesviharn could be that guy, plus he's an excellent special teams player.

Who knows, maybe Wade can bring more out of Watkins to make him a good-great saftey. Maybe Wade is thinking that with more of an agressive D that Watkins won't have ot be the "lifeline".

Alot of "maybes", but if we don't sign/draft a FS, then maybe Watkins will flurish.

By the way, why haven't we heard anything on Tony Parrish? Are the Cowboys not interested?

It's not a given that he'll improve enough. And a 5th round pick is not a huge investment.

If watkins is that good, he should be able to handle competition and come out on top. If not, then he'll just be a good backup with potential, and there's no shame in that.

A very good signing for safety, this guy plays and plays well every defensive back position. This guy makes plays and is a smart player. We could get him cheaper too.
