first off, would like to see how cheap his contract was...and second and more importantly, their is an old saying "too many cooks in the kitchen" I hope that doesn't apply here....thirdly maybe he can offer some help in game management situations that could be a big plus for this team.

I don’t know about this. His offenses weren’t that good as an OC and he was on some teams that had good players on that side of the ball.

Hmmmm.....sounds Kellen needs to watch his back. Any mid-season slumps like last season.....

I don't, I think he has to do better with in game adjustments. out side of that he has been OC since 2019 and in that time his offense has ranked 1st in the NFL twice in 2019 and 2021. I do think he fails to adjust and that has caused the offense to bog down.

Just an NFL retread that is entrenched in the coaching network. In this limited role, he probably won't have much influence anyway but if he did, I wouldn't expect anything innovative or new.

He's been coaching in the NFL for years and never got a HC job despite being an OC for a lot of teams...and having his father's name to live off of. In fact, this just sounds like McCarthy doing a favor to the Schottenheimer family since he came from Marty's coaching tree.

Schottenheimer may be a very nice guy, but he has been at best a middling coach in his life. He has managed to fail his way into more gigs than a lot of people - it shows that the nepotism game is strong.

Sounds like Jerry and Stephan have hired themselves a mole to spy on coaches and players.

Fat Mike doing a favor because ole Marty Schottenheimer gave him a shot as a young coach.

Brian fell out of favor with NFL teams because he couldn’t keep up with new trends and analytics just like fat Mike couldn’t. He was passing game coordinator for the sorry *** Jaguars. Can’t even get a coordinator job just like Mike Nolan.

I like the idea of the position but this seems like another nepotism hire.

Not sure how great of a hire this is. I can tell you guys, living in the Pacific NW region, that Seattle fans couldn't wait to get this guy out of their building. lol

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reports the Cowboys hired Brian Schottenheimer to work with the team's coordinators on "league trends" and game planning.

The guy who ran one of the NFL's most conservative, run-heavy offenses while in Seattle will now work with both Dallas coordinators on "league trends." It would be laughable if it weren't tragic. Schottenheimer in 2021 took over play calling duties for the lifeless Jacksonville offense in the final weeks of the regular season, establishing the run as hard as ever. Hopefully for CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, and the rest of the Cowboys offense, Schotty's thoughts on game planning and "league trends" will be taken with a grain of salt.

So maybe he is here to help us RUN THE BALL
