Who are you drafting? This is not a great draft and more teams in front of the Cowboys need quarterbacks. If you want a premium quarterback you gonna have to pay a price to move up.
Purdy, Dak ???? We arent necessarily looking for a QB that's ready (we dont need him ubtil 2024). There also a line of thinking that we could succeed with a lesser QB .....and better use the $34m saving.....who's to say this draftee cant do what the 4th Rd Dak did?

Dak rushed an average of 6 times and scrambled for a few key first downs the last 3 games, so it's not like he refused to run at all. I think some of you would prefer Dak turn into a runner first like he used to be in college, but Dak is not that anymore. He truly has turned into a passer first.
Yep AC Dak definitely ran more this year and it paid off when we needed to move the chains.

I thought he looked pretty healthy and ran well but we definitely don't want him to have to do it all the time.

I just want to see him do it when everybody's covered and he has some safe room in front of him take off get the four or five yards rather than trying to throw into a crowd.

I think the key is we have to get him some help and going into this off season we have to get the o line healthy and with Pollard's health being a total? We have to invest in a running back.

Us fans are at a crossroads with Dak.

Jerry and Stephen keep reiterating their desire for him to stay at QB.

There is no controversy

That's 22 mil hanging in the balance
Isnt the $22m that's being quoted actually a conversion of base salary into pro-rated bonus rather than a 'restructure' which adds additional years to the contract. He already has two Void years in 2025 and 2026.

They are doing the touchy feely act with Dak, im sure they dont want to scare him, his record under pressure isnt his best asset.....they also mention drafting a QB that will add a modicum of pressure.

Actually we want someone who actually is a better prospect then Dak. Purdy would be lucky to have Dak’s career let alone beat out Lance next season. The Cowboys want to build the team around a star quarterback not a good quarterback. You have to compete with Mahomes, Burrow, Allen and Herbert. Dak can get us to the playoffs, he has done that the last two seasons. Think of the Cowboys as Kansas City with Alex Smith. What did the Chiefs do? Traded up for Mahomes.

don't need him to run the football but he must roll, boot, and slide out of the pocket
Because they have defensed him.

 Well Dak proved that you can get to play-offs with 4th Rd picks.
Problem is that Dak started with 5 1st Rd picks in his offense....and Dak's comp% and QBR isn't such that you can't het similar production for fraction of the CAP.
....spend the saved CAP on giving the draftee weapons, rather than a QB who couldn't get it done previously and now is costing 20%+ of the CAP.
Even if we had the CAP for Dak, what would we spend it upon....he had the Coop/Gallup combo that didn't work.

The QBs in this draft class are not very good.

That may be, but we still need to draft one and hold a QB competition in training camp. Either it will push Dak to get better or break him. Either way we'll know. Next off-season we should draft a QB again too. The thing is, you never know how someone will transition from college ball to the NFL. If you did know, we wouldn't have 1st round busts and guys drafted in the 4th and later being franchise players.

It adds it to one of those voids I believe. It was already a built in trigger. Just means we still pay him that even if he's not here in 2 years or it's dead money. But it opens 22 mil of available cap space the day they trigger it

With 2-4 QB expected to go in first round in 2023, this is expected to be a fairly rich QB class coming out . Many potential future starters to be had even beyond the 1st round.

Some experts are saying this draft is loaded with talent.

Cowboys should be looking for a Day 2 pick for at least a longer term backup. Much how they selected Dak.

There’s no “ crossroads “ with Dak. We are expected to extend his contract this offseason to lower his Cap hit on his final 2 years of his contract.

2 consecutive 12 win playoff seasons all but solidified his future here. It’s still amazes me we have fans who believe winning championships is our measurement for success . Especially in this era under Jethro and Son.

Jethro even admitted that we aren’t going to take any extreme measures to win a championship now. There’s a thread currently discussing it. Why can’t fans grasp the priorities here under this ownership .

Right. There is no controversy or crossroads in the Sky Box.

They are going to extend him and dish out another big signing bonus to provide Cap relief and probably solidify Prescott for most of his career.

Fans need to move on or move out. And use their energy and brains on how to better surround our QB.
