I don't think the Cowboys had any interest in paying Parnell 8 million this year, or 14 million over two years. The Jags really signed him to a 2 year deal which if he earns he probably gets to see the back end of it. If he doesn't then they can get out after two years for zero cap issues. Very smart contract for the Jags. Would be a terrible contract for us.

they intended to draft Free's replacement this year and did in Green. Then got Collins as a bonus. They figured Free was good for at least one more and possibly two more years and would have a replacement being paid far less. That in the end is why they did not keep Parnell. His age was against him.

Perhaps take a scouting class or read a book or two to figure out what you are looking at?

Louis Riddick is part of a scouting academy that teaches the average joes on what to look for and how to evaluate players using film.

I'd start there, maybe, or just stop trying to act like you know what you are talking about alltogether.

Your salary numbers are skewed to try and prove your point. According to Over the cap, Parnell will count 8 million against the cap this year and Free is at 3 million. I do not think that Parnell is worth this much.

You don't understand how the Salary Cap works.

The Cowboys sat anyone down if they a hangnail this preseason.

The sat Free for reasons that they already knew about when they re-signed him.

Two foot/ankle surgeries in the span of 1 year has to be a concern for an aging player that relies on foot quickness to overcome a lack of power.

The Free era has really been hit or miss with DAL

They had him as a steal and then signed him to a 4/32m deal. That immediately went bad when he struggled at LT and then RT.

They got a steal again when he took a 50% pay cut.

He still had a 4m dead money hit this year but I thought we were done with him.

But DAL likes continuity and they doubled down on Free with his new deal. If they cut him next year they still owe him 3m on the cap after giving him 6m in cash this year.

Parnell's age age and his skill ceiling, even if he develops into an above average OT he is has approaching that 32 age, which means his peak will enter its decline much faster. Yes free is is older but his skills have not declined that much but who knows with the ankle/foot
