We will never move forward I'd we keep hanging on to the past.

Tyron was a great player for us. But we have a younger, cheaper, healthier replacement now. It's time to move on.
Do we? Look how many lineman we burned through this past year. The depth is invaluable and it helped tremendously this last season. Obviously the money needs to be right but these guys are still good players and are critical depth for an important position group. On top of keeping these two around they should also draft another guard at some point as well.

Steele won't be playing for probably half the season.
ACL is currently now a nine-month recovery. So if things run typically in healing/recovery...he should be back 2-4 weeks before season starts.

It's the Jerry Jones way.... let's keep the band together.....if it aint broke dont fix it....lol
Jerry Jones is incapable of seeing how little (i.e. zero) Zeke offers the team at this point.

I figured Peters would go back into hibernation until at least the start of next season. I'd certainly welcome him back as a veteran presence and key backup. Would make me feel better about Tyron because we'd have both of them essentially trying to give us one complete tackle.

I disagree. I think we can go back to the plan we had last year, with Tyler playing guard for now and be a better line. Sure, Tyron is going to be hurt some, but having Peters gives us some insurance and Tyler can kick back out to tackle if needed. Keeps us from absolutely having to draft a starting guard this year when we have so many other areas to fix.

When you're this close to a NFCCG, keep it together fix DAK, add a few pieces and we're home right?

So let me get this straight.... we're KEEPING Zeke, J. Peters, Tyron and extending Dak. I have to assume at this point the Jones' are actively trying to NOT win a championship. Old, slow and injured is the same as fat, drunk and stupid. Delta House here we come.

LOL if you can get Tyron to take a pay cut, it could be a bargain since, if we even get him for 12 games in a season, you could have top 5 tackle play. It's not easy finding tackles, we've gotten lucky to snag back to back great tackles.

Peters? He isn't the next Tom Brady. Maybe if he works out in the off season he can stay a little more healthy. His snaps need limited big time.

Long as the money is right I am good with that. Peters should be offered an assistant OL coach regardless. He helped Tyler a lot.
I wonder if he is playing because he has an interest in coaching. He has making close to the minimum for a couple years now

Keeping the band together, again. What a surprise.

I'd like to make Peters a coach. As a player, he's not that dude anymore and turning 41 won't help.

Relying on Tyron is a fool's errand at this point. I hope they address the position in the draft, again.

But are they in the best shape of their careers?
Probably not, but you can still get by without throwing the game from a rookie mistake with both of them, so it's wise to keep them, because injuries happen and our linemen have shown that they can flex when needed so versatility is also a plus, because of the injury bug.

Excellent post. I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted a guard in the first round, though. But this allows you to have them around to train a guy like Waletzko, and also fill in for depth, at the very worst. They're not necessarily your starters, anyway.

And Peters hasn't cost that much.

Looks like the strategy for next year is just to run it back.
This front office has the imagination and creativity of a turnip.
I think they believe if they hold on to what they have and add to it in the draft, that'll be enough to get them to the Super Bowl.

When Peters was fresh, you wouldn't know he was 40 something.

good.
i'm not interested in moving off tyron smith.
jason peters was solid.
considering our depth...i'd have no problem bringing them both back.
and i'd still draft 1...maybe 2 OL.
Two legit hall of famers. It's nice to have both, at the very least for backups.

Whoever they draft, it should be someone they think who can start right away.

I do think they need a WR, though, and a CB, and a DT, LB, etcetera, as well as a quarterback, and possibly a safety, depending on what they want to do with Wilson.

Jerry Jones is incapable of seeing how little (i.e. zero) Zeke offers the team at this point.
He tore his ACL and MCL in Mid December and no one knows when he was operated on. Expecting him to be ready for opening day seems to be a stretch. Even 9 months would have him back in October.

This is what was provided: An MRI revealed that Steele tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee. He will require reconstructive knee surgery and could miss a significant amount of next season.
