It is basically impossible to put a number grade on blocking using the PFF methodology.

I review the games myself on the All-22 which also includes the High End Zone camera angle.

i just reviewed all of Tyron's snaps vs the 49ers. He was good. Not perfect, but blocking is never perfect.
- He looks good physically.
- The worst snap was when he didn't pick up a blitzing Safety.
- He saw the Safety but didn't block him and instead helped the TE block the DE.
The grades I am referring to were for the regular season so wouldn't really address the playoff games.
Against SF I thought Tyron was "fine". He didn't block well in the run game to me and he was good enough in pass pro but nothing like his stalwart days at LT.
PFF has ranked Tyron a top 10 OT 6 times. They have loved the dude. Including in 2021.
But his injuries in 2020 and 2022 largely wiped out grades for him.

He'd obviously be a great 3rd OT but he makes far too much for that and he simply isn't as good an OT as Tyler or Terence these days.
He might match Terence in pass pro but is not in his league in run blocking.

End of the day I think Tyron should simply retire. He has played a long time and played at a high level making great money.
He's no longer worth 15M a year and his life after football should be worth a lot more than that to him.

BUT if he wants to play cheap of course there is room for him.
He is a better player than Peters but just happens to be far far more costly right now.

He was good at RT and they don't currrent have another option for game 1 of 2023.
- If they cut him then they have to sign somebody to play RT. Nobody knows when Steele will return.

The question is really about the probability that he stays healthy.
- I can't answer that at this point.

So a hall of fame LT who will retire an Eagle, is going to take a contract cheap and be on the practice squad to help us?

I mean I have seen stranger things, so I will not say impossible, but I would be surprised personally.
That's what he did in 2022...

The issue is that he has always lived in Texas in the off-season and preferred to play in Dallas.

We need to keep Tyron for one more year as a transition for Steele off an injury year. You don't throw away resources on o-line with the type of uncertainty we are facing.

It amazes me how many people ***** and whine about not having a championship in the past 27 years, who are also all for keeping overpaid, injury prone, mostly washed up players. Lol.

He started 15 games in 2021.

He is cheap.

He is now a player-coach.

They can put him on the practice squad to start the season.
Practice squad is the only thing that makes sense regarding Peters.

Peters may wind up playing until he's 45. The guy is a freak. Still a good backup/spot starter.

Peters was like a relief pitcher, he could only give the team a good 2 or 3 series then his play would decline. Nothing but love for the JP, but Ball n Amari's pick need to step up.

Peters is done here. Tyron will be back unless he retires. They will draft another OL in the 2nd rd.

I figured Peters would go back into hibernation until at least the start of next season. I'd certainly welcome him back as a veteran presence and key backup. Would make me feel better about Tyron because we'd have both of them essentially trying to give us one complete tackle.
My " hope " ..is that we come up with young pups that develop so well that they can even push 41 year old Peters off the roster.

Whether that be Matt Wally or even "miraculous" Josh Ball ... and it's not out of the question with Ball... keep in mind how Steele metapmorph from a weakling Chaz Green 2.0 to
a very solid, relaible vaslty improved RT starter.

We prefer the players we know. All this wheeling and dealing for new players only works for Philly, LA, Tampa, and SF.
