Tyron needs to take a pay cut and become our swing tackle. Peters is done. I give the Joneses credit for acting like they want everyone back but I think they will draft a linemen in the first three rounds and hope Wilesko develops.
Did Tyron sign a 10 year 100 million dollar deal years ago? At least that's what I remember. He's played at below market prices for many years and has never complained.

I get he's been injured a lot, but that's not his fault. I would let him play at his contract, but I still get attached to certain players even tho I say I won't. I would hate to see him in a different uniform.

LOL if you can get Tyron to take a pay cut, it could be a bargain since, if we even get him for 12 games in a season, you could have top 5 tackle play. It's not easy finding tackles, we've gotten lucky to snag back to back great tackles.
Pay cut, sure. If not, scut him and save the cap dollars

I disagree. I think we can go back to the plan we had last year, with Tyler playing guard for now and be a better line. Sure, Tyron is going to be hurt some, but having Peters gives us some insurance and Tyler can kick back out to tackle if needed. Keeps us from absolutely having to draft a starting guard this year when we have so many other areas to fix.
I guess that's not the worst plan.

If we want Tyler to be a T though, Tyron does become a progress stopper. He had a very promising year at the spot and I'd hate to see that go to waste.

If the vision is for Tyler to be G, then yeah, keeping Tyron makes sense

Let's assume Peters and Tyron are back next year, does the OL look like Tyler Smith, McGovern, Biadsz, Martin, Steele/Tyron Smith?

Nooooo! That's what is wrong with this organization. It's holding on to old has been players. Get some youth in there and stop treating these worn out first round picks like they can't be replaced. Their best days are far behind them.

Tyron has a very team friendly contract.

I think they believe if they hold on to what they have and add to it in the draft, that'll be enough to get them to the Super Bowl.
They believe that every year.
Great front offices are bold and are willing to take risk.
Are are too timid.
Thats why 28 years of mediocrity.

As long as Tyron is open to a significant pay cut? Sure.

But this team can’t afford to continue to pay huge money for that poor track record of availability.

Time to give something back for all of the games missed.

I don't think Tyron stops progress is Tyler spends a year at guard. We already know that he's the future tackle, but for that year, he can make guard better than what it was.

Is a line of Tyron, Tyler, Biadasz, Martin and Steele better than a line of Tyler, Farniok or McGovern, Biadasz, Martin and Steele? I think so, and we'd have to re-sign McGovern if we cut Tyron.

Now, we'll likely draft a guard at some point anyway if we don't re-sign McGovern because we can't trust Tyron to stay healthy for a full season and Tyler will have to kick out to tackle at some point. But what that starting five with Tyron can give us, even briefly, should be better than what we got this year. We just didn't get to see it this year because of the Steele injury after Tyron finally got back. (We did get a glimpse of what they want to do in the Tampa game when Peters started out at LT and Tyler at LG before Peters got hurt. They knew our strongest lineup including one of those Hall of Fame tackles out there with Tyler at guard.)

Time for Tyron to retire or for Jerry to move on.

We will never move forward I'd we keep hanging on to the past.

Tyron was a great player for us. But we have a younger, cheaper, healthier replacement now. It's time to move on.
I can see Tyron starting the year at RT while Steele continues his rehab. Inevitably, Tyron will get hurt, but hopefully he won't until Steele is ready to play. Peters is decent depth

I can see them bringing Tyron back but why Peters? If they expect Waletzko and Ball to improve do they really need Peters?

I'd rather they see if they can sign McGovern. They can use Tyron at RT until Steele comes back with Waletzko and Ball as backups - and Aviante Collins too.

It sounds like they want to give Alarcon a shot as well. I just don't see the need for Peters to start the year unless they want to hire him as a coach.

Expensive assistant coaches, at least 77 is in early 30's, albeit oft injured. And too that kept Bosa silent.

Solid depth for the tackle position unless we plan to play one a LG
for sure both must be swing , 77 can hold down RT until Steele comes back 100% but both too old to count on for 17 games.,

we need to let Conner walk, draft more physical LG IMHO. after steel went out Tyler got dinged our Run game suffered big time. More physicality at LG would help a lot.
