Like others have said it just means they wont target a Safety in the first round. So in other words, yes we will have to address this again in a year or two

It doesn't mean anything, safety will still be a priority in the first 3 rounds, maybe even 1st if Vaccaro is there and all of the top o-lineman & Richardson are off the board.

That is still below the average weight of the starting ends league-wide.

If you couple that with smaller defensive tackles in Hatcher and Ratliff, it compounds the concern.

The run defense will be something that will have to be closely watched. What made Kiffin's defenses in Tampa work was that he did have a penetrating tackle in Sapp and big space-eating nose in McFarland. That is why it is pretty clear to see why there is a bit of an issue with the current personnel.

The defense is designed to keep linemen off of the second level. If the line cannot support the run effectively, the linebackers will be eaten alive. There is a need for a little more size.

This article asked some of those very relevant questions:

http://bloggingthebeast.com/2013/03...-the-rest-of-the-4-3-teams-around-the-league/

I do not see how anyone can feel the line is "fine for now" as it looks currently.

I would draft one tackle, perhaps two if at all possible, both on the larger end of the spectrum.

Your point is a valid concern and I understand where you're coming from so I'm not going to try and rebut you. The only comment i have is that not every position in the nfl has to he the "prototypical size." I feel like football fans get way too caught up with measurable then playing ability and skill sets, which can offset if the player does not have the ideal measurables for their position. The one example I can think of off the top of my head is Woodson. IIRC he was considered to be a undersized DB and I think was considered to be a slower athlete and he clearly worked out fine. Now don't get it twisted I am in no way insinuating that spencer and ware are equivalent to Woodson I'm just saying dont count them out till you see it on week 1. Yeah they both played DE in college and that's great and all but I'm not putting all my eggs in that basket either.

Edit: also add Russell Wilson to the list, granted it was his rookie year but he did see success.

Lol bringing in 3 fa's and cant sign any of them because of the cap. I dont know why it says johnson and church are starters. I thought both were ss. Plus Johnson cant be counted on and most likely was a wasted draft pick.

I guess Lee and Carter was wasted picks as well since they did little to nothing in their rookie season.

I don't know what Johnson will or will not do I also know you have no clue as to what he will do. Instead of waiting to see you would rather make the slam on something you have no clue on, par for course around here. Slam what you don't know. :laugh2:

As of today, we have no money to sign anyone, let alone Huff.

Some of these BS comments are just a bit much, to come down on a player call him a wasted pick without know a damn thing about how this player will or will not develop. I honestly do not know what kind of player he will be how could I, how could anyone at this point? but to just come up with the lame negitives without any thing to go on just seems lame.

True but then if they are bringing playes in then wouldn't you think they expect to have money under the cap shortly so that they can make some moves? Stephen said we would not be making big moves in FA but he also said we would make some moves.

Kind of they both probably wont ever play a full season. Doesnt matter how good they are if they cant play.

Did everyone forget that we had h EXACT same front 7 personnel last year and our run D was fine?

The personnel was not the same. We had Kenyon Coleman, Josh Brent and Marcus Spears playing along the line. They provided the size that we will be missing if things are not fortified in the draft.

I hope that is the case and not just going through the motions.

We know they are talking with both Romo and Spencer I think they expect to get deals done or else they would not be bringing players in. I don't expect high priced FA based on comments but I do think some moves will be made in FA.

Dallas obviously has parameters in place for both guys from their agents to get extended.
When and how those extensions get done are completely within their control now.

Huff replacing Jenkins is a smart reallocation of assets.
Huff can start at FS and hold up over the course of a season while also being able to play some CB if were beat up at that position during the season.

Huff loves Dallas, still lives here in the off-season IIRC, and only issue with him has been price. Price that is dropping due to age and playing in the black hole that is Oakland.

Who cares about college. Ware is 254 lb. Spencer 250. To me, that's undersized going against tackles who are over 300 lbs.

They'll probably bulk up to 260 by the time camp is over.

If we are bringing in these free agents that means either tony or spencer is close. It wouldn't make sense to bring them in otherwise. Hopefully something happens today.....

This means next to zero to me.

Spencer has anchored well against the run for 3 years at his current size.
Size isn't an issue. The Colts won Super Bowls with DE's smaller than what we have. This is a pass first league and we have to stop the pass... first.

Ware will now have a LB behind him to step up and fill holes.

Dallas can use a big 1 tech for sure. No disagreements on that front. But they have a quite good one who may be back in 2014 and Ratliff has always proven more than quality even in his very limited 2012 season. If that is a value on draft day that's awesome. There are 3 or 4 really big bodied DTs in that late first to mid second range. 1 could sit there for us at 47 or we could end up with a Star Lot. at 18.
