Yeah, that's the dilemma. You'd like to think that our FO would have some arrangement made in confidence with AP, but Minny has tied their hands on how and when he may be available.
I think the Boys can just let this play out, and there will likely be a replacement taken on draft day - either a pick or a trade - or Murray signs before that. One way or the other, we'll have that slot filled. My only worry is DL, and I believe we'll solve that also with 2 solid picks and an impact FA.

I actually have confidence in this process now.

Just say no to Romo restructuring. It will just cause more mess down the road.

I doubt it if this is the last time they re-structure him they should be fine, by the time he hangs it up the cap will be north of 160m. I think he will see the last year of the contract.

Likely irrelevant. When Romo retires, it will likely be several years before the team is competitive again. And any QB we draft won't cost much for years if he pans out.

You may be right. But this team is young. We have a young, powerful , offensive line. Some guys on defense who might pan out to be really good players. Dez and twill, young.

I have read this is the second youngest team in the NFL or playoffs....cant remember. But , this team looks to be good for years to come even wthout Romo. I dont understand why we dont draft a QB in the 3-5th rounds with some potential, and develop are reaplacemrnt for Romo. Like the Packers did with Rodgers and Farve....

Thats what I would do.

Im restructuring Romo. Why are you guys scared to have a few down years of cap we've been down most of my life and im 26. Win now. I'll take 1 Super Bowl in my lifetime and have dead money then never win one and always have cap

We don't know what he's asking. least I haven't seen or heard. We just know it's more than 4mill, which I don't find unreasonable.

I think Dallas has done a good job over the years of being fair in its contract offers, so I've got to believe his expectations are higher than the Cowboys believe he's worth. If the team has shown a tendency in the past to be stingy with players, then I'd believe him to be asking for something reasonable.

i think one of the biggest mistakes Jerry has made, was doing this in the mid to late 90s when Aikman was still playing...and even a few moves after that. Galloway, Williams. It doesnt work. It was hell on the franchise and then we just couldn't field a decent team because of salary cap issues.... ANad the culture of losing set in.

It was okay to lose. Cowboys don't make playoffs....Losing became acceptable.

I also think , since we had probably one of the most dominating teams in NFL history in the early 90s, we were searching for a way to rebuild that dominating team. That doesnt happen very often.

I would rather a culture of making smart moves and the process of taking one play at a time, next man up, TOUGH OL and DL, and be competitive every year, take place. Keep pushing into the playoffs every year and were bound to make it.

The thing about winning now is, you mortgage your future to win now, and then ooops. Williams doesn't fit. A rash of injuries in key positions hit. The ball takes an odd bounce and we lose in the NFCCG. Guess what? You don't win now. and you don't later....

I really want them to draft a QB and let him develop on the bench learning from Romo....... i think this would be the perfect year to do that. imho Romo has 2 maybe 3 years left, and thats without anymore injuries........!!!

Crappy QB class.
Who would you take and when?

I like that idea too, but this isn't supposed to be a very good year for QB's other than Winston or Mariotta.

Im not sure. I dont really do the deep draftnik thing. Just to busy. I am not a scout.

And I didnt realize it wasnt looking good for QBs. But even with that said, your taking a gamble at QB what ever round you pick them. Look at Romo. And maybe they are doing that now? Ii wanted them to draft one last year too.

My point is. Lets have someone that we have a little confidence in, ready, for when Romo isnt around.

Lets develop are own guy. It takes a few years ......

Doug Free gets $3 million

McClain gets $2 million

Durant gets $1 million

And most of the rest goes in the bank!

Even if they restructure Romo they do not have to use it. Any unused money will be pushed into next years cap. But it would give them options. And if they cut Carr as June 1 designation that savings can't be used until after June 1.

It's true that the cap is probably going to increase over the next few years but honestly, salaries don't stay stagnant either. As cap goes up, so do players salaries. It's easy to say that we can extend everybody because the cap is going to go up but it doesn't mean it won't put us in a bind.

Restructuring Romo is a no brainer at this point. Can't let him have a $27M cap hit in the middle of title contention. We can sign a top flight d line player with the money saved restructuring Tony. Don't know about anyone else, but I would gladly trade a Super Bowl in '15 for crappy '16 and '17 years....not that restructuring Romo automatically means we will be bad.
