I really want them to draft a QB and let him develop on the bench learning from Romo....... i think this would be the perfect year to do that. imho Romo has 2 maybe 3 years left, and thats without anymore injuries........!!!

Yeah so use that draft pick spent on a Romo heir apparent and get a guy in who can help this team win it all.

Im restructuring Romo. Why are you guys scared to have a few down years of cap we've been down most of my life and im 26. Win now. I'll take 1 Super Bowl in my lifetime and have dead money then never win one and always have cap

Jerry Jones went ALL IN on the Joey Galloway trade and that turned out horrible then again with WR Roy Williams.....Dallas needs to do things different....be smarter....have a long term plan....We all want a SuperBowl but Dallas can't do business like it has in the past.....were has the past got this franchise... 12-4 can easily go back to being 8-8.

I see the Cowboys being good, after Romo is gone. The OL should be the best in the NFL. This is a young young team. Dez, Twill, escobar...lots of young guys on D showing promise....

I guess we could just go get a QB in FA when that happens...? But i would rather develop one.

We have been lucky most of our picks have contributed. unless it's a RB, the pick probably won't contribute this season any way.
If there was a QB we could grab this season to groom, I'd grab him.

Free agency doesn't always work out, just ask the Commanders (or Carr for that matter), so the deals must be right. With that being said, with how loaded this free agent pool is at a couple key positions, there is bound to be some good deals for teams that are willing to wait it out, and we will need some cap room for said deals.

See, every one's worried but we have plenty of money. Now give Murray his cut.

I say no to Murray's contract "cut", he fumbled the ball and game when we needed him most. I wont forget that and was the time we needed him most - I'd be cautious and pass.......

Then you must have wanted the same for Romo several times no?

And maybe a few free agents like the idea of playing for a Dallas Cowboys team viewed as a possible contender to take a little less?

I've grown to despise the whole "all in" mindset.

The Cowboy teams from the late 60's until the late 80's never operated on that principle... "Roger's getting older– we better go 'all in". Nonsense.

Most of the time it doesn't work with you pay for the most expensive free agents.

What are the income tax laws like in TX. I know every now and then that can be used to get talent away from teams where they might make 1 million more, but would just give that money to the government (not saying I am one way or another on the state income tax issue, personally I think the almost 10% sales tax here in AZ that we have is silly, but just saying it might help the Cowboys out if it's like it is here).

I feel Romo over the years was put in compromising positions, asked to do too much. Murray was asked to run and protect the ball. Not parallel comparisons IMO

I get your point but he was asked to carry the ball way more than any other back in the league. I saw a great defense strip on that play.
Credit where it's due.

Like Dez Bryant?

I'm starting to get that feeling.

The one small nugget of consolation is that he's at least their free agent and with the tag the team has a certain amount of leeway.

But look at the wideouts on either Pats or the Seahawks... No "Dez Bryant's" there. And it's not like the Lions have set the world on fire after giving Johnson a zillion bucks a season.

Very risky investment.

I buy that but can't get off the thought of how that fumble impacted the game and their ultimate season end. Was a sick defensive play and agree his number was called on more than usual......but he didn't deliver when it counted most. That combined with my belief that any better than average runner could flourish behind this OL and in this offense keeps me from wanting them to sign and tie up big dollars here

I can understand what your saying. His fumble cost us, but he did rip of a nice run and the scored on the very next drive. I think our defense let us down tht game more than any one did. That and the refs.

Defense does need work an I'd be glad to see $$ spent their instead. Don't see Murray coming back and I expect their running game, maybe by committee, to be as effective.

There is no state income tax.

Though Mickey Spagnola has mentioned that property taxes are higher, etc.

So I don't know how much of an advantage it is.

Some other states also don't have income tax.

Some other states also don't have income tax.

Currently, the 7 states listed below do not tax their residents' income. If you are an official resident of one of these 7 states, you don't need to file a state tax return for that state:

  • Alaska
  • Florida
  • Nevada
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Washington
  • Wyoming
In addition, 2 states only tax interest and dividend income, not earnings:

  • New Hampshire only collects tax on interest and dividend income exceeding $2,400 ($4800 for joint filers) plus additional exemptions for age, blindness and disability. More info
  • Tennessee only collects tax on interest income from bonds, notes and dividends from stock exceeding $1,250 ($2,500 for joint filers). More info
However, if you earned income by working in one of these 9 "nontaxable" states but you are a resident of a "taxable" state that does collect income tax, your resident state will tax you on the income you earned in the "nontaxable" state.

I googled this
