I didn’t take This as a positive thread with the word toxic in it.

Being in my 50s, I thought this must be a new use of the word, like bad meaning good.

When the Cowboys selected Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb with the No. 17 pick of the 2020 NFL draft and assigned him jersey No. 88, he was destined for the top rung. Having Cooper on hand allowed Lamb time to develop into the the group leader. The time has come for Lamb to assume the mantle of WR1.

Through two seasons, Lamb has amassed 153 receptions, 2037 yards and 11 TDs. That’s an average of 76.5 receptions, 1018.5 yards and 5.5 TDs a season.

I think the OP meant dangerous. Lamb is a dangerous WR. TO was toxic.

Toxicity or Toxic Differential is a pretty well known stat created by Brian Billick to track how explosive an offense is (by 10+ yd runs and 20+ yd receptions)vs how many the defense surrenders.

The article explains this as well. I promise, it's very much a pro-Lamb read .

Toxic? doesn't seem like an appropriate word for the story, odd really.

The article redefines toxicity as explosive plays of 20 yards or more for a WR, specifically. The headline is, as always, written to compel the click from the reader. Good news is.. Lamb ranks right up there with the best of them, and produced more from the outside WR location, than he did from the slot position. Furthermore, in 2022, he will get even more time at that outside WR spot than he did before.

I posted it but did not write it, the title is what it is and I did not change it. The write up in actually very good but seems people only care about the title of it.

The use of the word "toxic' to put a positive spin on a player was a poor word choice on the part of the scribe, no doubt. CeeDee has been a good player for the Cowboys during his stay with them. I do believe the writer's intent was to use the word "toxic" as being bad for the opposition, though, and not anything negative about CeeDee's performance. His play speaks very well for himself, without question.
