I think that 3 weeks rule only applies to players plucked off of the PS.
It does not apply to waivers. But yes he will be on the 53, but there is not a minimum limit of weeks. Unless that has changed, but I don't think it has.

his nfl career qbr is a 33...granted only 2 games but the guy needs work. This feels like a move that will pay off more in 2022 than this year honestly, and i am ok with that.

Yeah I thin k Grier has more talent and upside than Minshew. The only question really is what's between the ears. I just don't know about his love for the game.. I hope I read it wrong but when they did that special on him before his senior year in college or was that pre-draft? I did not come away with a sense that he was an all in football guy. He seemed more all in on his family. Football is not a sport you can play half-arse.
